United States Suitability/Public Trust Fully remote Information Technology Overview GovCIO is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer (Web Developer III) to lead UX strategy, design execution, and researchādriven improvements across enterpriseālevel VA applications. This remoteāonly role mentors junior designers, leads research initiatives, ensures 508 accessibility, and collaborates with crossāfunctional teams to deliver highāimpact Veteranācentered experiences. Responsibilities Design Leadership & Strategy Lead complex UX initiatives across multiple VA systems and product lines.
Mentor junior and midālevel designers, providing feedback and guidance. Drive alignment on UX strategy with stakeholders and product leadership. Advanced UI/UX Design & Prototyping Create advanced prototypes, workflows, and interaction models using Figma.
Define scalable patterns aligned with VA design standards and engineering constraints. Review and approve UI deliverables for quality and consistency. User Research & Usability Leadership Plan and lead Veteranācentered research studies and usability evaluations.
Synthesize findings into actionable design insights and product recommendations. Advise teams on research methods, data interpretation, and best practices. Accessibility & Design System Governance Ensure all solutions meet Section 508/WCAG standards.
Influence design system evolution and adoption across teams. Contribute accessibility expertise to reviews and implementation discussions. AIāEnabled UX Innovation Explore responsible use of AI tools to enhance workflow analysis and research synthesis.
Validate AI outputs with user testing and alignment to accessibility. Identify opportunities where AI can improve complex Veteran workflows. CrossāFunctional Collaboration & Agile Delivery Partner closely with engineering, product, and program leadership.
Advise on feature feasibility, prioritization, and UX impact during planning. Lead design critiques, sprint reviews, and collaborative workshops. Qualifications Required Skills and Experience Bachelorās degree with 8+ years of UX/UI experience or commensurate experience Expert proficiency in Figma, prototyping, and complex UX workflows.
Demonstrated experience leading research, testing, and UX strategy. Deep knowledge of Section 508/WCAG accessibility and compliance. Experience collaborating with senior stakeholders and engineering teams.
Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience working with VA or other Federal agencies. Familiarity with complex Veteranāfacing systems and policyādriven workflows.
Experience contributing to or governing design systems. Experience evaluating and responsibly integrating AIāenabled tools. Clearance Required Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance Posted Salary Range USD $81,850.00 - USD $130,950.00 /Yr.
