Quick Facts Compensation: $127,100 to $183,000 annually target range $127,000 - $140,000 Working hours: Full-time, Exempt, 90% on-site Reports to: Head of HR Industry: Marine Terminal Job Functions: Human Resources Senior Manager of Human Resources The Senior Manager of Human Resources is a hands‑on, people‑focused leader responsible for supporting and executing day‑to‑day HR operations across the organization. This role works closely with and through others to deliver consistent, high‑quality HR services while building strong relationships and fostering a positive, engaging work environment. This position requires a highly collaborative, service‑oriented professional who is effective at working with a wide range of individuals, including leaders, employees, and cross‑functional partners.

The role focuses on balancing relationship‑building with accurate and timely execution of HR programs, policies, and processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Talent Acquisition: Partner with hiring managers to lead full‑cycle recruiting, from sourcing through onboarding; align with leaders to define role expectations and identify strong candidates; build proactive talent pipelines; deliver a consistent and positive candidate experience. Onboarding & Employee Experience: Support onboarding processes; partner with teams to reinforce company values and engagement from day one; continuously identify opportunities to improve the employee experience.

Benefits, Payroll & HR Operations: Serve as a trusted resource for employees on HR programs, policies, and procedures; support benefits administration and vendor coordination; partner with internal teams for accurate payroll processing; administer leave programs; maintain HR systems and data integrity; prepare and share HR reporting; ensure compliance with multi‑state laws; partner with leadership and Safety; support audits and documentation standards. Culture & Employee Relations: Build strong, trust‑based relationships; support employee engagement initiatives; assist with employee relations matters; provide guidance to managers on labor relations topics; promote a respectful, inclusive, collaborative environment. Performance Management & Leadership Development: Support performance management processes; partner with managers to strengthen performance conversations; assist in developing and delivering training and development programs; support leadership development.

Additional Responsibilities: Comply with Corporate Safety and department policies and procedures; attend required safety trainings and meetings; follow all safety guidelines; actively participate in the Emergency Preparedness program and activities; perform other duties as assigned. Education Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; required. Equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of HR management experience also acceptable.

SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred. Related Experience 5+ years of HR management experience. Proven experience in a small HR department, ability to build structure.

Background in manufacturing, industrial, marine terminal, or union environments strongly preferred. PNW-based with deep familiarity with the Seattle/Tacoma talent market. Multi‑state employment experience; comfortable navigating varying compliance requirements.

Exceptional empathy, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience managing multiple HR disciplines (e.g., employee relations, talent, benefits, leaves). Required Competencies High emotional intelligence; earns trust from the organization.

People‑ and service‑oriented; spends time building relationships. Self‑starter who builds and improves processes. Comfortable with ambiguity; energized by turnaround environments.

Highly organized; manages multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Required Credentials Ability to obtain a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 5 pounds, stand for long periods, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, balance, bend and reach, talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment Occasionally exposed to wet environment and works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level is typical business office level. Benefits Potential annual discretionary bonus up to 15% of base salary for this role; bonus subject to performance.
