Job Description

Senior Transmission Project Engineer ENMAX is seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Project Engineer to lead technical aspects of transmission line design projects across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility through construction and closeout, in urban environments. Major Responsibilities Provide technical support, guidance, and expertise across all project phases, including system planning, routing & siting, stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, estimating, engineering & design, procurement, scheduling, construction, commissioning, and asset management. Independently manage all technical aspects of transmission line design projects – structural, foundation, and overhead system design – covering new lines, rebuild/upgrade, relocation, and emergency response.

Conduct engineering design and analysis, including survey/LiDAR data processing, conductor/insulator optimization, DRD/loading tree design, PLS CADD/Pole/Tower/Caisson analysis, construction coordination, and supervision. Serve as transmission‑line subject‑matter expert for ENMAX groups such as Asset Management, System Planning, Regulatory, Standards, and Office of the Chief Engineer. Generate and review all technical documents: NID document, functional specification, material/construction specification, project scope, bill of materials, tender package, and construction/design scope of work.

Oversee scope and quality of engineering deliverables from internal and external consultants to meet project needs. Apply ENMAX, industry, and regulatory standards, codes, and safety requirements in all designs and reviews. Identify and propose technical practice improvements and solutions for review by team lead and manager.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, identify interdependencies, assess risks, and provide construction RFI guidance. Ensure safety of staff, contractors, and the public in all activities. Education P.Eng status with the Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).

Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering. Qualifications & Experience 10+ years of progressive experience in transmission line design. Strong proficiency with PLS CADD/POLE/TOWER/CAISSON.

Experience with HV underground lines (138 kV+) is an asset. Utility work experience and regulatory application filings are assets. Stakeholder engagement experience is an asset.

Competencies Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects, set schedules, and meet commitments. Leadership of technical workstreams and coordination of multi‑disciplinary stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, high‑quality outcomes. Consultant/contractor management skills: scope definition, direction, review, acceptance, and quality assurance.

Engineering judgment and decision‑making in ambiguous or complex situations, including escalation when appropriate. Strong stakeholder engagement skills with internal and external parties. Benefits Competitive compensation package.
