Location(s): Canada, Woodbridge Responsibilities At Systems level, design, develop, and integrate mass spectrometry hardware, firmware, and software, with an emphasis on GC and LC systems.
Work closely with electronics, mechanical, firmware, and software design engineers to create integrated chromatography systems. Collaborate with supplier engineers on the design of specialized components of chromatography systems. Assemble and test prototype chromatography systems and/or components.
Develop performance specifications and test procedures for chromatography-based instrument systems. Support chromatography applications scientists and applications development. Prepare internal technical reports and documentation.
Assist transfer to production of successful prototype/R&D pilot designs, including training and support of production engineers. Develop and maintain functional requirements for NPI projects. Basic Qualifications Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, or Experimental Physics (Ph.D. degree is preferred). 5 or more years of experience in analytical system hardware, firmware, software, and/or applications development, with an emphasis on chromatography systems.
Demonstrated skill developing prototype chromatography-based instruments, including performance specifications and test procedures. Demonstrated skill troubleshooting scientific instrumentation, with an emphasis on chromatography systems. Demonstrated skill preparing internal technical reports and presentations.
Demonstrated ability to interface with a multi-disciplinary technical team of scientists, hardware engineers, and firmware/software engineers. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work in a laboratory environment, including manipulating tools, instruments and components.
Must be able to handle hazardous chemicals and chemical waste as required, in keeping with all local safety regulations. Documentation, writing, and report preparation will also be required. Some travel might be required.

Attention to detail. Adaptable to change. The annual compensation range for this full‑time position is CAD $116,700 – CAD $137,200.
The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
