Roles Overview At both GWAL and LRL, you will support project delivery through design, coordination, and technical execution.
You will work under senior guidance while independently managing components of moderately complex projects and contributing to team success. Key Responsibilities Design & Technical Execution Design building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and life safety systems, and security, data, and communication systems Perform load calculations and engineering analyses Prepare specifications, reports, and detailed design drawings Conduct site visits, surveys, and field reviews Ensure compliance with applicable electrical building codes and standards Perform design work independently on assigned tasks Provide technical input, markups, and support to drafting teams Project Coordination & Delivery Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and external consultants Attend project meetings and communicate project status Support proposals, project scheduling, and cost estimates Ensure adherence to scope, timelines, and quality standards Support coordination and project documentation Collaborate closely with senior engineers and internal teams Construction Administration Conduct site inspections and field reviews Respond to contractor RFIs and inquiries Provide technical support during construction Address site conditions and resolve design issues Quality Assurance & Documentation Review designs and documentation for accuracy and completeness Participate in QA/QC processes Maintain compliance with firm standards and engineering best practices Mentorship & Training Provide guidance to team members where appropriate Participate in cross-training and continuous development Progress toward senior responsibilities over time What you'll need to succeed Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred) 5+ years of electrical design experience P.Eng. (Ontario) strongly preferred/required depending on role Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit Experience working on moderately complex projects Electrical system design and construction methods Specification writing and cost estimation Additional provincial licensure (QC, NB) is an asset (LRL) Ability to obtain security clearance (GWAL) Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Effective communication and collaboration Ability to manage multiple priorities Leadership and mentorship capabilities Client relationship management Project management and strategic thinking Strong knowledge of National & Ontario Building Codes, Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Ontario Fire Code, Energy standards (ASHRAE 90.1, MNECB) and NFPA, CSA, and IES standards What you'll get in return Competitive salary, paid overtime, RRSP matching, and health & dental benefits.
