Job Summary The Site Manager is responsible for the implementation of DCFS, Head Start Standards, Preschool for All, and Preventative Initiative Programs for the Brighton Park location at Gads Hill Center. The Site Manager oversees the staffing plan, collaborates with content area managers for site compliance, ensures and adheres to the program models for DCFS, Head Start Standards, Preschool for All and Preventative Initiative Programs, and provides supervision and guidance to teachers, family support workers, custodians, receptionist, and kitchen staff.
The Site Manager also maintains the quality of program services and ensures that children, youth, and families receive comprehensive education, resources and support services. This individual must embody our core values and demonstrate the ability to positively contribute to the Gads Hill Center culture of collaboration, high expectations in programming, and exceptional service to the families and community. Duties and Responsibilities Site Supervision Supervises and evaluates teaching staff, Family Support Workers, Receptionist, Custodians and Kitchen Staff.
Serves as site leader and maintains effective operation of Children’s Services programs. Collaborates with the content area managers and Direct Supervisor to ensure facility issues are reported and resolved in a timely manner. Ensures that the site environment is safe for operation on a daily basis.
Maintains compliance with DCFS licensing standards, Head Start Standards, Preschool For All and Preventative Initiative Programs. Provides guidance on problem solving at the site level, provides staff with regular supervisions and creates relationships with families. Schedules and facilitates monthly site and team meetings, as appropriate.
Program Monitoring and Management Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with community members, stakeholders, and families served. Collaborates with partners within the community to develop referrals for families. Prepares information for quarterly reviews on the site level.
Adheres to agency’s internal monitoring process to ensure compliance with program requirements. Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with the parents and communities we serve, including participating in agency and site outreach, recruitment, and civic engagement efforts. Supports parent engagement efforts, including but not limited to parent meetings, parent policy committee meetings and advocacy efforts.
Demonstrates a proficient knowledge in site management for a childcare center. Ensures ongoing recruitment and enrollment of eligible children for various funding sources. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of age0‑5 disability requirements for the classroom.
Conducts and documents formal observations in staff’s usual work setting and provides written and verbal feedback. Manages the enrollment process with FSS Staff for new families that enter the program. Prepares reports providing analysis on the outcomes and implications of the data to the families we serve.
Collaborates with other Content Area Managers to plan and coordinate professional development for staff. Tracks teacher and staff credentials and partners with the education team to assist teachers and staff with advancement toward credentials. Creates systems that will allow for effective site monitoring, monitoring of site visits and program audits.
Site Managers are required to have supervision with Direct supervisor on a set weekly schedule. Works with Teachers, Family Support Workers, Education Team, and Infant Toddler Specialist with the referral process for children and families. Provides regular written and oral reports on program as assigned and submitted by designated timelines.
Creates a system for Illinois Action for Children Childcare cases. System must incorporate; number of cases at the site, Families that qualify and do not qualify for Illinois Action For Children and redetermination information. Participates in Core Leadership Meeting meetings and other agency meetings for managers and staff.
Participates in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends. Additional Responsibilities Demonstrated success navigating complex organizational structures; using influence and soft skills to move ideas to implementation; comfort with ambiguity; adapting to change; and managing under different circumstances. Sophisticated communication style that demonstrates expertise and commands respect, while also recognizing and leveraging knowledge of others.
Outstanding listening skills to uncover real issues affecting sites. Experience working successfully in a multi‑site organization with demonstrated success integrating into new work environments. Participates in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
Advances parent leadership development. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (average child’s weight).
Qualifications Bilingual Spanish/English highly preferred. Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood or a related field and a Director’s Gateway level 2 credential required. Master’s in early childhood education preferred.
At least three years in a progressively responsible position in a Head Start, Early Head, Preschool for All and Prevention Initiative funded agency is required. Previous managerial experience in Head Start/Early Head Start programs and monitoring experience preferred. Must have a valid Driver’s License and be willing to travel locally.
Experience with multicultural programming preferred. Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.
Work well under pressure and adhere to strict timelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and willingness to develop additional skills as needed. A passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.
