Job Description
Role Summary Principal Data Engineer at Stable Kernel. Lead data platform strategy, design for scalability and costâeffectiveness, influence product roadmaps, mentor teams, and drive data engineering excellence. Core Responsibilities Design and implement scalable, costâeffective data solutions.
Establish and promote codeâbase and dataâengineering best practices. Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to clarify strategic outcomes and translate them into roadmaps. Analyze endâtoâend customer experience and propose improvements.
Coâordinate crossâfunctional teams and influence organizational change. Develop longâterm roadmaps, manage ambiguity, and mentor peers. Decompose strategic direction into actionable projects, execute, and communicate progress.
Identify risks, simplify solutions, and ensure timely escalation. Propose organizationâwide processes to improve throughput, employee satisfaction, and product engagement. Lead projects, set strategic direction, manage stakeholders, negotiate, and mentor future leaders.
Required Experience & Skills 7â10 years of software development with a focus on data engineering. Experience migrating legacy systems to modern ELT platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake while maintaining business continuity. Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (Python or Go).
Data warehouse design, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT implementation. Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Looker) and event streaming (Kafka). Proficiency with Apache Spark for largeâscale data processing.
Cloud platform expertise (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and managed data services. Familiarity with workflow orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, Databricks Workflows). Experience with infrastructureâasâcode (Terraform or Pulumi) and CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines.
Version control best practices using Git. Strong problemâsolving and stakeholderâmanagement skills. Nice to Have Experience with data catalog and lineage tools (Unity Catalog, Atlan, etc.).
Knowledge of realâtime/streaming architectures in addition to batch processing. Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $170,000+ (marketâcompetitive). Fullâtime position with hybrid work model; minimal travel.
