Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 8 years of progressive post‑baccalaureate experience in this role or a Manufacturing Engineer‑related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the same fields and 6 years of experience in this role or a Manufacturing Engineer‑related occupation. 6 years of experience in the following areas: Production failure analysis and root cause analysis or corrective and preventive action (CAPA) management. Hardware product development lifecycle management or new product introduction (NPI) management.
Gathering and analyzing manufacturing or field data within a data center environment to extract actionable insights and continuous improvement opportunities. Manufacturing process engineering or manufacturing assembly process development. Monitoring, reviewing, and presenting product performance data and metrics to stakeholders in a concise and clear way that enables data‑driven decision making.
Responsibilities Drive the design, optimization, and qualification of complex manufacturing processes, ensuring all tooling, software, and documentation are delivered on time and within budget. Lead Design for Excellence (DfX) initiatives for complex components, influencing technical designs to improve manufacturability, cost, quality, and overall availability, and champion the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process by directing investigations into technical failures and guiding teams to apply analytical principles. Implement robust statistical process controls by defining critical parameters, analyzing data to identify improvement opportunities, and maintaining essential manufacturing equipment.
Develop comprehensive manufacturing strategies, including partner selection and the integration of advanced technologies, to enhance production efficiency and supply continuity. Steer manufacturing test development for new and existing product designs, driving improvements to test platforms and software solutions to ensure high‑quality releases. Position reports to the Google Austin, Texas office and may allow for a hybrid schedule as per company policy.
