The Building Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.

Data center equipment that supports mission‑critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Building Technicians drive innovation while reducing operational costs, and serve as front‑line respondents for electrical and mechanical issues that affect Amazon’s availability. Stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems Switchboards/switch‑gears UPS systems PDU units AHU, CRAHU, and CRAC units Pumps, motors, and VFDs Building automation systems The position requires obtaining and maintaining an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

Basic Qualifications 2+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 1+ year of mechanical facilities maintenance experience Experience in data center operations, building operations, or an equivalent mission‑critical environment In‑depth understanding of electrical and mechanical data center systems, including generators, transformers, electrical distribution gears, UPS, ATS, pumps, AHUs, CRAHUs, CRACs, BMS, EPMS, and data trend analysis Ability to work on‑call and provide after‑hours support when required Capacity to lift up to 49 lbs and/or work at heights and from ladders Preferred Qualifications 4+ years of data center engineering experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low‑voltage (copper/fiber) cabling Experience in data center engineering Ability to perform physical tasks throughout the day without becoming overly tired Legal Statement Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
