SCADA Engineer Pay Rate: $80.00/hour, depending on experience Location: Burnaby, British Columbia Raise is currently hiring a SCADA Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable. Description As a SCADA Engineer, you will deliver complex, multi‑discipline capital projects focused on the integration of remote monitoring and control equipment for the power system.

Operating under general supervision, you will take ownership of specific project scopes, providing technical leadership, design development, and rigorous testing while ensuring full compliance with our client’s standards and utility regulations. The Protection & Control (P&C) Engineering SCADA Design Team provides essential engineering expertise and technical support across our high‑voltage transmission substations, generating stations, and distribution facilities. Our team delivers comprehensive project management, design, maintenance, and emergency response services to ensure the reliability of the provincial power grid.

Responsibilities Engineering & Design Delivery: Focus on capital work involving the design, development, integration, and testing of remote monitoring and control equipment used in substations, generating stations, and the distribution system. Technical Leadership: Undertake a variety of engineering assignments with responsibility for full projects or critical project phases. Provide clear instructions, technical advice, and mentorship to assigned staff, including checking work for accuracy and compliance.

Standards & Compliance: Interact with external service providers and review engineering designs to ensure absolute compliance with standards, engineering practices, and quality procedures. Problem Solving & Innovation: Use initiative and engineering judgment to develop innovative techniques. Apply strong theoretical and practical knowledge to analyze and resolve complex technical problems, consulting with senior engineers or supervisors on unusual features.

Collaboration & Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong, constructive working relationships with internal stakeholders, external service providers, contractors, and suppliers across the organization. Project Oversight: Review overall plans and provide strategic guidance for unusual project features. Ensure completed work is technically accurate, feasible, and displays sound engineering judgment.

Qualifications (8) years of progressive experience in a relevant engineering field, with previous engineering experience within a major electrical utility environment. Hands‑on experience with DNP3, MODBUS, standard networking protocols, cybersecurity frameworks, and the delivery of machine‑to‑machine (M2M) networking applications. Direct experience with the programming, configuration, and integration of GE Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).

Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, specifically CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) compliance. Education and Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering P.Eng and will be required to provide proof of permit to practice, registered with EGBC when hired Security Clearance: Valid Passport to Performance (P2P) clearance. Additional Information Ability to work on a hybrid basis, attending the assigned office/facility as required by the team schedule.
