Overview: Position Summary: The Coupa Platform Technical Lead is accountable for establishing, governing, and assuring the Coupa platform at Visy. As Coupa is new to the organization, this role plays a critical foundational role in setting technical standards, integration patterns, controls, and ways of working that will support procurement and finance processes across Australia and New Zealand. Based in Visy’s Global Capability Centre (GCC), the role acts as the technical authority for Coupa and partners closely with Procurement, Finance, Accounts Payable, and IDT teams in Australia and New Zealand.
The role ensures the platform is implemented correctly, operates reliably, and is scalable as adoption and usage mature. This role is focused on technical ownership, governance, and risk management rather than day-to-day administration. Key Responsibilities: Own the technical integrity and governance of the Coupa platform, establishing configuration standards, design principles, controls, and documentation appropriate for a new enterprise system.
Act as the technical authority for Coupa, ensuring platform configuration aligns with approved procurement and finance business rules for Australia and New Zealand. Provide technical oversight of integrations between Coupa and Visy’s ERP and related systems, including SAP, with accountability for data accuracy, stability, and appropriate controls. Lead change and release management from a technical governance perspective, including impact assessments, testing oversight, and approval of production deployments in line with IDT change and audit requirements.
Serve as the escalation point for complex or high-risk technical issues, including workflow failures, integration defects, security concerns, and data integrity issues impacting business operations. Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Accounts Payable stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and well-governed technical solutions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify configuration, enhance automation, and improve platform performance as adoption matures.
Key Challenges: Establishing and governing a new Coupa platform in an evolving environment where processes, standards, and usage patterns are still being defined Balancing speed of delivery with governance, stability, auditability, and long-term sustainability during early adoption phases Managing stakeholder expectations across multiple geographies and time zones while supporting Australia and New Zealand operations from the GCC. Key Relationships: Primary Functional Peers / Managers: Program Manager – Digital Transformation & ERP. Central Purchasing System Manager (Indirect Manager).
Direct Reports: None Internal Stakeholders: Procurement, Finance, and Accounts Payable teams (AU & NZ) IDT Integration and Architecture teams External Stakeholders: Coupa Support and implementation partners, as required Key Requirements: Experience and Qualifications: Mandatory (Critical for the Role): Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Senior-level experience supporting Coupa or equivalent enterprise Procure-to-Pay (P2P) / Business Spend Management (BSM) platforms. Experience managing configuration standards, integrations, and platform stability.
Demonstrated experience establishing or stabilizing enterprise systems, including governance frameworks, controls, and technical standards. Strong integration experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, with a strong understanding of data integrity and failure management. Proven ability to operate as a technical authority without direct people management responsibilities.
Desirable (Preferred for the Role): Coupa certifications such as Coupa Platform, Procure-to-Pay, or Integration certifications. Experience working within a Global Capability Centre or shared services environment supporting offshore stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand. Skills Required: Technical / Business / Leadership Skills: Deep understanding of Coupa platform capabilities and configuration concepts.
Strong systems thinking across workflows, integrations, data, and controls within the Procure-to-Pay lifecycle. Ability to assess technical risk and make sound decisions in evolving platform environments. Strong understanding of enterprise change control, release governance, and audit expectations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to influence outcomes through expertise and credibility rather than formal authority.
