The Position Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a large-scale mixed-use property in Metro Vancouver. This individual will play a key leadership role in ensuring operational excellence across retail, residential, and common area operations while supporting the continued growth and evolution of the asset. The ideal candidate is proactive, handsâon, solutionsâoriented, and thrives in a fastâpaced environment.
This role requires someone who can balance strategic operational oversight with the ability to support daily property operations and tenant needs. Key Responsibilities Building Operations Oversee preventative maintenance programs for all building systems including HVAC, electrical, fire/life safety, security systems, surveillance systems, and site equipment Conduct regular inspections of the property including common areas, parkades, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and exterior spaces Provide leadership, coaching, and support to operations staff, contractors, custodial teams, and security personnel Assist with operational support for marketing initiatives, events, seasonal dĂ©cor, and property activations Participate in afterâhours and weekend onâcall responsibilities as required Oversee tenant service requests, repairs, moves, and tenant improvement coordination Review tenant plans and drawings to ensure compliance with building standards and operational requirements Maintain strong tenant relationships through responsive communication and service delivery Coordinate with development and construction teams regarding tenant fitâouts and operational impacts Health, Safety & Environmental Management Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, WorkSafeBC regulations, and company health & safety policies Support emergency preparedness, risk management, sustainability initiatives, and energy management programs Lead investigations and followâup related to operational, environmental, or safety incidents Facilitate OH&S meetings and oversee reporting processes Budgeting, Contracts & Vendor Management Assist in the preparation and management of annual operating and capital budgets Monitor monthly variances and support forecasting processes Oversee thirdâparty service contracts and vendor performance Support tendering, RFP processes, invoice approvals, and capital project coordination The Requirements Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience within commercial, retail, residential, or mixedâuse property operations Experience overseeing largeâscale building systems and preventative maintenance programs Strong understanding of building operations, tenant coordination, and contractor/vendor management Knowledge of BC Building Code, WorkSafeBC regulations, and health & safety practices Experience managing operating budgets, capital projects, and service contracts Ability to read blueprints, construction drawings, and maintenance documentation Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders Strong organizational, problemâsolving, and criticalâthinking abilities Power Engineering certification (5th Class minimum required, 4th Class preferred) Trade certification (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing) considered an asset CPM, RPA, SMA, or similar designation considered an asset Experience within both retail and residential environments is considered a strong asset Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check Why should you apply?
