Audio Engineer

Join a dynamic festival team to ensure optimal sound quality and community satisfaction at a major cultural event. This role focuses on managing and balancing sound levels for the Lebanese Festival in Ottawa, with a particular emphasis on minimizing low‑end frequencies that may disturb nearby residents. The successful candidate will provide on‑site expertise during the event, utilizing advanced sound engineering techniques to redirect and control audio output, ensuring both audience enjoyment and neighborhood harmony.

Responsibilities Analyze and assess the festival venue’s acoustics to identify potential sound leakage issues. Implement solutions to reduce excessive low‑end sound and prevent disturbance to surrounding homes. Set up, calibrate, and operate sound equipment, including equalizers, limiters, and directional speakers.

Collaborate with event organizers and performers to maintain high‑quality audio throughout the festival. Monitor sound levels in real time during the event and make adjustments as needed. Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to ensure uninterrupted audio performance.

Provide recommendations for future sound management strategies at similar events. Skills and Requirements Proven experience as a sound engineer or audio technician at festivals, concerts, or large‑scale outdoor events. Strong understanding of acoustics, sound propagation, and noise mitigation techniques.

Proficiency with professional audio equipment, including mixing consoles, PA systems, and sound measurement tools. Ability to design and implement solutions for controlling low‑frequency sound. Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
