Overview maman is a French bakery, café and leading lifestyle brand founded in 2014. Locations span across North America and Canada. Inspired by family traditions and high-quality ingredients, maman offers baked goods (including their nutty chocolate chip cookie), coffee, fresh breakfast, and lunch options from salads and sandwiches to quiches. maman also hosts intimate events and partners with brands for partnerships and activations.
We’re looking for a passionate General Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about food and beverages, and welcoming customers. You have experience in successfully managing a team, fostering unity, and working toward daily goals.
You will provide friendly, helpful, and responsive service to guests and speak authentically about our menu and brand. You will be based at any maman location; please indicate your preference during the interview process. What you’ll do Report directly to your regional director and culinary director, and communicate effectively regarding team and restaurant needs Be accountable for profitability by growing sales and controlling cost of goods and labor costs Understand your restaurant’s financial results and motivate your team to perform Identify areas of excess cost and collaborate with the Maman office to maximize profitability without compromising guest experience Make decisions that balance guest happiness, team well-being, and profitability Lead a team of front of house and back of house staff (approximately 25 people) Allocate 75% of time on the floor completing tasks with the team and 25% on scheduling, ordering, inventory, emailing and reporting with the back office Review daily time punches and address time clock issues via coaching or documentation Work with the Maman office to develop and implement SOPs, menu launches, marketing initiatives, events, and training Follow performance review documents and lead monthly performance reviews for all team members Identify staffing needs and communicate with Regional Directors Provide ongoing training and development for current staff, including management in FOH & BOH Ensure new hires are onboarded in Harri prior to their first training shift Ensure food and beverage products are prepared and served according to Maman’s recipes, portioning, and plating standards Take ownership of cafe space aesthetics Foster return visits and build relationships with regular guests through warm hospitality and service Investigate and resolve guest concerns What we’re looking for Minimum 3 years leadership experience Familiarity with Toast, Harri, and third-party delivery apps Ownership of your team, restaurant, and guest experience Good judgment on when to solve problems independently and when to escalate Commitment to food safety and a valid food handler’s certificate Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, events, and occasional emergencies Hospitality passion and awareness of industry trends Quality, aesthetics and top-notch customer experience as non-negotiables Ability to make people feel good and lead by example Ability to learn quickly and adapt to maman’s culture Smart, ego-free, upbeat, friendly, and efficiency-oriented Positive attitude and sense of humor under pressure What’s in it for you Join a fast-growing company building a national brand Competitive salary, healthcare, and benefits 2 weeks PTO and healthcare benefits Training to help you settle in and opportunities to broaden your skill set Growth opportunities and internal mobility when possible Keep in mind that maman is growing and developing daily.
