Senior Accountant
NACBA
Job Description
Western Suburbs | Family Office | Genuine variety of work | Supportive team Your new company
A well-established Perth-based private family office is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its highly impressive small finance team. The office manages a diverse portfolio across listed equities, private equity, private credit, property and other assets, held through a multi-entity trust and company structure.
The role reports to the Financial Controller and carries day to day responsibility for the Group's accounting, reconciliations and compliance work. It suits a qualified accountant moving out of professional practice, or an experienced accountant from a complex multi-entity environment who wants variety, autonomy and direct exposure to investment and treasury reporting.
Your new role
- Manage month-end close activities, including bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support the preparation of financial statements, management accounts and tax compliance work papers.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, payroll tax and FBT returns.
- Assist with foreign currency revaluations and treasury administration, including cash flow reporting and term deposit management.
- Support investment portfolio reporting, expense analysis, annual budgeting and budget versus actual reporting.
- Assist with corporate governance and compliance requirements, including ASIC lodgements, entity registers and investment compliance obligations.
- Take ownership of the accounts payable function, including invoice workflows, payment runs and month-end reconciliations.
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to deliver timely financial reporting and insights.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging AI and automation to streamline processes and reporting.
What you'll need to succeed
- CA or CPA qualified, or substantially complete.
- Three to five years of post-qualification experience.
- Sound working knowledge of Australian trust and company taxation and indirect tax compliance.
- Experience with Xero, and advanced Excel.
- An interest in AI and automation. The office has an established AI policy, an AI system register and an active programme automating recurring finance and reporting work. The successful candidate will be expected to use these tools and to help take the programme further.
- Meticulous attention to detail, and the confidence to raise questions rather than assume.
- Absolute discretion. The role has access to sensitive personal and family financial information, and a satisfactory background check is a condition of appointment.
What you'll get in return
- A permanent full-time position, 38 hours per week, based in a newly fitted out office in the Western Suburbs.
- An attractive annual salary, with flexibility depending on experience.
- Genuine breadth. The finance team is small, so the role spans compliance, treasury, investment reporting and management reporting rather than a single function.
- Exposure to a mature AI and automation programme inside the finance function, with real scope to shape it.
- A stable, long-tenured team and a direct reporting line to a supportive Financial Controller.
- Payment of professional membership and continuing professional development costs, subject to approval.
