Research Science Analyst - Energy Storage Insights

Overview

In this role, you support the energy storage practice by turning data into strategic insights that help clients accelerate the clean energy transition. You’ll work within the Battery Accelerator Team to analyze BESS, LDES, and grid-scale opportunities, building market models and tools alongside developers, utilities, investors, and regulators. The position blends analytics, storytelling with data, and stakeholder engagement in a fast-growing field.

• Analyze trends and opportunities across energy storage (BESS, LDES, grid-scale)
• Build proprietary market models and decision tools
• Collaborate with developers, utilities, investors, and regulators to deliver strategic insights
• Translate data into strategic recommendations across the energy storage value chain
• Leverage AI and basic coding to enhance workflows and modeling
• Join the think tank for innovation and decision support in energy storage

• Master’s degree in STEM or related analytical field (preferred)
• Academic background or first professional experience in energy storage and/or grid flexibility valued
• Strong interest in energy storage and developing subject-matter expertise
• Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience in Python and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a strong plus
• Comfort using AI tools and automation to streamline analysis
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work with senior stakeholders in fast-paced settings
• Strong process management and ability to coordinate multiple workstreams
• Excellent verbal and written English; additional languages a plus
