CAP Engineering is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer who is interested in developing practical geotechnical experience across infrastructure, transportation, energy, mining, land development, and other projects across Canada.

The Role
The Geotechnical Engineer will support CAP’s geotechnical and civil engineering teams with field investigations, engineering analysis, design, reporting, and construction support. The position will involve a combination of field and office‑based work and may require travel to project sites, including remote locations.
Experience with geotechnical investigations, drilling programs, soil and rock logging, laboratory testing, construction monitoring, Civil 3D, slope stability software, foundation design, or northern and remote projects would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities may include:
- Planning and supporting geotechnical site investigations.
- Supervising or assisting with drilling, test pit, and sampling programs.
- Logging soil and rock conditions and documenting subsurface information.
- Coordinating geotechnical laboratory testing and reviewing test results.
- Assisting with geotechnical engineering analyses and design.
- Supporting foundation design, settlement assessments, slope stability, earthworks, pavement, and site development evaluations.
- Assisting with recommendations for excavation, backfill, compaction, dewatering, and construction practices.
- Preparing borehole logs, technical calculations, figures, memoranda, and geotechnical reports.
- Supporting construction monitoring, field reviews, inspections, and quality assurance/quality control activities.
- Assisting with proposals, cost estimates, scopes of work, and project documentation.
- Working collaboratively with civil, structural, environmental, and other engineering disciplines.
- Communicating with contractors, clients, laboratories, and project team members.
- Following CAP’s health and safety requirements and applicable site‑specific safety procedures.
- Travelling to project locations throughout Canada as required.
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with the applicable professional engineering association.
- 0–3 years of relevant engineering experience.
- An interest in geotechnical engineering and field investigations.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and an ability to accurately document field and technical information.
- An ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A willingness and ability to travel and work at remote project sites.
