Senior Geotechnical Engineer (PE)

Earth Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer, PE to join our Houston team.

This is a hands-on position for an engineer who knows how to take a geotechnical project from start to finish. We are looking for someone with strong practical experience who can independently manage investigations, perform engineering analyses, develop recommendations, prepare reports, and see projects through construction.

We are a local, family-run engineering firm with more than 30 years of experience in the Houston market. Our engineers work directly with ownership, clients, drillers, laboratories, and field personnel without layers of corporate bureaucracy.

What You’ll Do

• Manage geotechnical projects from proposal and investigation through final report and construction support
• Develop boring programs and coordinate field investigations
• Review boring logs, laboratory results, groundwater conditions, and subsurface data
• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and develop practical design recommendations
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports
• Develop recommendations for shallow and deep foundations, slabs, earthwork, pavement, settlement, and related geotechnical conditions
• Evaluate more complex geotechnical conditions as project needs require
• Coordinate directly with clients, drillers, laboratories, contractors, and project teams
• Manage project schedules and budgets
• Respond to technical questions during design and construction
• Review the work of EITs and junior engineers and help develop their practical engineering judgment
• Sign and seal engineering work within your responsible charge

What We’re Looking For

• Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain Texas licensure promptly
• 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience preferred
• Significant experience preparing geotechnical engineering reports
• Strong understanding of Gulf Coast/Houston-area geology and soil conditions preferred
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage geotechnical projects from beginning to end
• Strong foundation and settlement analysis experience
• Experience with both shallow and deep foundation systems
• Practical understanding of drilling, soil classification, laboratory testing, and field conditions
• Ability to communicate engineering recommendations clearly to clients and project teams
• Ability to manage multiple active projects without requiring constant technical supervision

The Person We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in the engineer who has spent years learning every part of the business including; field investigations, boring logs, laboratory data, engineering calculations, reports, client questions, and construction issues and is ready for greater responsibility.

You may currently be a Senior Project Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Geotechnical Engineer, or similar. The title matters less to us than your ability to do the work, exercise sound engineering judgment, and take ownership of a project.
