Job Description


This is a broad corporate accounting role covering statutory reporting, monthly close, financial controls, audit, tax and treasury support. The successful candidate will also play a key role in driving process improvement, automation and finance transformation.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements across multiple non-syndicate entities and Group consolidated accounts.
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including journals, general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Own and maintain the accounting policy framework, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and FRS 102.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate audit requirements and deliverables.
  • Oversee the financial affairs of Group holding companies alongside external service providers.
  • Support treasury activities through management accounts, financial information and covenant reporting.
  • Drive process improvements and automation across financial reporting and month-end processes.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns and coordinate corporation tax submissions with external advisers.
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Present financial information and recommendations to senior stakeholders.


Must Haves


  • Professionally qualified accountant โ€“ ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification or equivalent finance experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly UK GAAP and FRS 102.
  • Experience within the insurance market, ideally Lloydโ€™s / London Market.
  • Proven experience preparing statutory financial statements and monthly/quarterly reporting.
  • Experience managing external audit relationships.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, accounting policies and statutory requirements.
  • Experience working with finance systems, general ledgers and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering process improvements, automation and operational efficiencies.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging with senior management.
