Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Digital, Content & Creative Services is a senior leader within the Marketing & Business Development team, responsible for the firm's digital strategy, content and thought leadership, brand and creative services. Reporting to the Global Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, the Assistant Director leads a team of approximately 20 professionals and oversees the firm's digital platforms and engagement, content strategy, brand and creative services, and multimedia production. The role also leads the adoption of AI‑enabled technologies and modern operating practices to improve audience engagement, efficiency, scalability, and the delivery of integrated marketing and communications initiatives.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop the global Digital Content & Creative Services team (~20 professionals) across the following functional areas: creative and graphic design, editorial and content development, social media and digital engagement, web and digital platforms, podcast production, video production and editing, multimedia and presentation services, technical and creative operations.
  • Establish clear strategic priorities, workflows, and performance expectations for the team that foster a culture of creativity, innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Marketing & Business Development leadership, Communications, Knowledge Management, Recruiting, HR, IT, and firm leadership to align initiatives with firmwide priorities.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to attorneys and firm leadership on digital positioning, content, multimedia engagement, and brand storytelling.

Digital Strategy, Platforms & Engagement

  • Develop measurement frameworks and analytics dashboards to evaluate engagement, ROI, and audience behavior across all digital channels.
  • Lead the firm's digital reputation and engagement strategy across web, social media, multimedia, and emerging channels.
  • Advise leadership on digital positioning, SEO strategy, market perception, and brand visibility.
  • Support the launch and branding of new digital platforms, podcast series, and emerging content channels.
  • Oversee the firm's digital experience across websites, microsites, and content platforms, partnering with technology teams to improve UX, accessibility, SEO, analytics, and platform functionality.
  • Drive integration between CRM, analytics, content, and digital engagement systems.

Content Strategy & Thought Leadership

  • Lead the firm's global content strategy, ensuring alignment with business development priorities, practice strengths, and market positioning.
  • Oversee integrated, multi-format content campaigns that strengthen client relationships, elevate market visibility, and reinforce the firm's reputation across articles, client alerts, executive communications, social media, video, podcasts, webinars, multimedia storytelling, and digital‑first content.
  • Partner with practice groups, sectors, and BD teams to identify content development and market engagement opportunities.
  • Lead content governance and standards for digital publishing and content management.

AI, Innovation & Digital Transformation Leadership

  • Develop and lead a forward‑looking strategy for the responsible evaluation and adoption of AI‑enabled technologies across digital marketing, content development, creative services, multimedia production, analytics, and client engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve content generation and editing, personalization and audience targeting, search engine optimization (SEO), social media strategy and analytics, video and podcast production workflows, client listening and sentiment analysis, and knowledge distribution and content discovery.
  • Establish governance standards and best practices for responsible AI use within marketing and communications.
  • Partner with IT, Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Information Governance to evaluate emerging technologies and ensure compliance with firm standards.
  • Drive operational transformation through automation, workflow optimization, and modern content technologies.

Brand, Creative and Multimedia Services

  • Lead the firm's global brand, creative services, visual communications, and multimedia capabilities, ensuring a consistent and sophisticated experience across digital and physical channels.
  • Set global brand direction in partnership with the CMBDO and Global Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, overseeing brand positioning, architecture, visual identity, messaging, tone of voice, design standards, and digital presentation.
  • Direct integrated creative and multimedia campaigns that support client development, thought leadership, recruiting, reputation, and strategic market initiatives.
  • Oversee the strategic development and production of video, podcasts, webinars, presentations, and other multimedia content, establishing scalable production standards and workflows.
  • Use market data and research to inform business development, client strategy, thought leadership, brand positioning, and campaigns across key markets and sectors.
  • Partner across Business Development, Communications, Recruiting, HR, Learning & Development, Knowledge Management, and practice leadership to promote brand alignment and support integrated firmwide initiatives.
  • Oversee agency relationships and external creative partners supporting branding, content, multimedia, and campaign development.

Performance Management, Operations & Production Excellence

  • Lead the team as an internal digital, content, and creative services function, establishing clear service offerings, intake processes, production workflows, and delivery standards.
  • Oversee workload management, resource allocation, production planning, and prioritization across digital, content, creative, and multimedia functions.
  • Establish performance metrics and dashboards to measure production volume, turnaround times, service responsiveness, digital engagement, quality, and delivery standards.
  • Implement scalable processes, automation, and AI‑enabled workflow tools to improve efficiency, consistency, reporting, and speed to market.
  • Partner with leadership to establish measurable KPIs aligned with firm priorities and client service expectations.

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or related certifications preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in digital marketing, content strategy, creative services, or communications.
  • Significant experience in a law firm, professional services, corporate, media, agency, or global enterprise environment preferred.

Skills

  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary creative and digital teams.
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing strategy, brand management, content strategy, multimedia production, social media and digital engagement, web and digital platforms, SEO and analytics, and AI‑enabled marketing technologies.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation and modernization initiatives.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to advise senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills.
  • Experience managing agencies, vendors, technology platforms, and complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong understanding of AI trends, governance considerations, and innovation opportunities in professional services.

Supervisory responsibilities

Manages team of approximately 20 professionals.

Equipment used

Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, copier, scanner, etc.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring prolonged and/or extensive computer use.

  • Travel for meetings and training as required.
  • Ability to work extended hours as required to meet project, client, or business needs.
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours, including early start times occasionally, to support collaboration with international stakeholders in EMEA.

Working conditions

This role is classified as hybrid, meaning that you will be required to work in the office four (4) days per week. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule.

Pittsburgh, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Atlanta: $194,000 – $238,000

Chicago: $208,000 – $255,000

Washington, DC: $221,000 – $272,000

New York, Los Angeles: $229,000 – $281,000

San Francisco: $243,000 – $298,000
