Civil engineer

Overview

As a Civil Engineer for utility-scale BESS projects, you lead civil and structural design and delivery from concept to construction. You’ll shape site layouts, foundations, earthworks, drainage and access infrastructure to create safe, buildable, permit-ready developments. You’ll collaborate with development, procurement, electrical engineering and construction teams to align designs with project goals and regulatory requirements.

• Develop and review civil and structural designs for BESS projects (grading, drainage, foundations, access roads, equipment platforms)
• Design and coordinate foundations and site layouts for battery containers, inverters, transformers, and related infrastructure
• Manage geotechnical investigations and integrate findings into foundation and earthworks design
• Prepare technical specifications, scopes of work and tender documents for civil/structural works
• Support evaluation of EPC and civil contractor proposals to ensure clarity and compliance
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, authorities and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
• Provide technical support during construction and supervise civil works for compliance with design, standards, permits and safety
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and keep projects on schedule and budget

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years of professional experience in civil/structural engineering, preferably in energy, infrastructure or renewable projects
• Strong knowledge of foundations, earthworks, drainage and site development; familiarity with building standards
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS or equivalent software
• Experience with BESS, solar, wind or renewable energy infrastructure is highly desirable
• Fluent German and English; strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Proactive, hands-on attitude and ability to work in dynamic project environments
