Truck Driver

G K Freighters is seeking a reliable and professional Truck Driver to join our team on a casual basis initially with the option for Full Time. Based in Townsville and contributing to the success of our transport and logistics operations. As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of freight, maintaining our vehicles to the highest standards, and upholding the reputation of G K Freighters across the region.

What you\'ll be doing

• Operating heavy vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and road safety regulations
• Planning and executing delivery routes to ensure goods are transported on schedule and in good condition
• Performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying and reporting maintenance issues promptly
• Loading and unloading freight, ensuring cargo is secured correctly and safely
• Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, kilometres travelled, fuel consumption and vehicle condition
• Communicating effectively with dispatch, customers and other team members regarding delivery status and any issues encountered
• Complying with all relevant transport regulations, including weight restrictions and hours of service requirements
• Maintaining a professional demeanour and representing G K Freighters positively to customers and the public

What we\'re looking for

• A valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) driver\'s licence appropriate for the vehicles operated
• A current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one as part of employment requirements
• Proven experience as a truck driver in the road transport industry, demonstrating consistent safe driving practices
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, vehicle maintenance basics and load securing procedures
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently whilst meeting tight delivery schedules
• Clear communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with customers and colleagues
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks associated with loading and unloading
• Reliability and a commitment to maintaining a clean driving record
• Experience with GPS navigation systems and basic computer literacy to record delivery information
