We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Management Accountant to lead our Record to Report (R2R) function within a large, complex organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of financial reporting processes, lead a high-performing team, and drive continuous improvement across the finance function.
The Role
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will manage a team of finance professionals and oversee the end-to-end financial close and reporting process. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial information, maintaining strong controls, and delivering valuable insight to support decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and motivate a team of Management Accountants and Assistant Accountants.
- Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journals and accounting schedules.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Produce management accounts, KPI reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary.
- Partner with key stakeholders to provide financial insight and support business decisions.
- Lead intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities through robust financial analysis.
- Act as a key contact for external auditors.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives and finance transformation projects.
About You
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience leading a Management Accounting, Financial Accounting or R2R function.
- Strong people management experience, with the ability to develop and inspire teams.
- Experience working within a large, complex multi-entity organisation.
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.
Desirable Experience
- Professional services or legal sector background.
- Exposure to finance transformation, systems implementation or continuous improvement projects.
- Experience within an organisation with turnover exceeding £250m.
