Early Childhood Expert (Montessori Toddler Teacher)

Grades: Pre-Primary (Nursery, LKG, UKG)
Reports To: Principal & Early Years Coordinator
Location: Bangalore
Role Overview
The Montessori Toddler Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for toddlers (1.5 - 3 years). The role involves providing attentive childcare, planning age-appropriate activities, observing children’s development, maintaining accurate records, and building positive relationships with parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, attentive care and ensure children’s safety, hygiene, comfort, and wellbeing.
- Prepare and maintain an orderly Montessori environment suitable for toddlers.
- Plan and conduct activities that support independence, movement, language, social development, and creativity.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, routines, activities, observations, milestones, and incidents.
Parent Communication
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s daily experiences, routines, and wellbeing.
- Share observations and developmental progress in a clear and professional manner.
- Listen to parents’ concerns and respond with sensitivity and respect.
- Maintain confidentiality and record important parent communications appropriately.
Documentation and Assessment
- Observe each child regularly across different areas of development.
- Record individual interests, abilities, progress, and emerging needs.
- Use observations to plan suitable follow-up activities and support.
- Prepare progress updates and reports as required by the school.
Teamwork and Professional Duties
- Work collaboratively with teachers, assistants, coordinators, and other school staff.
- Follow the school’s safeguarding, health, safety, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, parent meetings, and school events.
- Uphold the values, policies, and Montessori principles of The Shishya Jigyasa Academy.
Qualifications and Skills
Mandatory
- Diploma or degree in Montessori Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- 1-3 years experience working with toddlers, preferably in a Montessori setting.
- Good understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate activities.
- Patient, organised, observant, nurturing, and able to communicate effectively with children and parents.
- High level of empathy and emotional intelligence
- Collaborative and aligned with the values of TSJA
Preferred
- Excellent spoken English
- Strong understanding of child psychology and foundational pedagogy
- Creativity in planning activities, stories, songs, and rhymes
Work Expectations
- School hours: 7:50 am – 4:00 pm
- Participation in Saturday workshops and professional development
- Participation in Summer and Dussehra programmes as per school plan
