Job Description

Reporting directly to the Directors and General Manager, you will take ownership of the finance function across the Group, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and valuable commercial insights that support business growth and profitability. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to step into a more senior finance position with broad business exposure.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage job financial tracking and utilise Xero to its full capability across all business units.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll oversight, and general ledger management.
  • Perform month-end and year-end financial processes and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets across multiple entities and departments.
  • Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts and financial forecasts to support business planning and growth.
  • Conduct variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, identifying key business trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning, profitability analysis, investment decisions, and operational improvements.
  • Monitor and analyse key financial and operational performance indicators (KPIs).

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualification, or progress towards certification, is highly regarded.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Accountant, Senior Bookkeeper, Management Accountant, or Financial Controller role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Xero, with demonstrated experience using reporting, project tracking, and management accounting functions.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial modelling skills.
  • Experience preparing management reports and presenting financial information to senior stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of Australian taxation legislation and accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and commercial decision‑making abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
