Job Description
- Take ownership of full-cycle / General Ledger (GL) accounting activities.
- Manage and reconcile General Ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Lead and perform month-end and year-end closing activities in line with reporting deadlines.
- Prepare and review accounting entries, including accruals, provisions, depreciation, prepayments, deferrals, reclassifications, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepare, review, and analyse balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor and support working capital management, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and support the preparation of financial statements under Polish GAAP and IFRS, as applicable.
- Ensure compliance with Polish tax and reporting requirements, including VAT, CIT, JPK, and KSeF.
- Apply practical knowledge of CIT and deferred tax, including accounting treatment and reporting.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial statements, tax filings, and audits.
- Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors, coordinating requests and providing explanations and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with the Finance Director on accounting, reporting, closing, and financial matters.
- Partner with Business stakeholders to understand transactions and ensure their correct accounting and financial treatment.
- Investigate accounting issues, identify root causes, and proactively implement corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting, reporting, and closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, Polish GAAP, IFRS, and applicable legal requirements.
- Proactively identify accounting and reporting risks and ensure they are addressed in a timely manner.
- 5+ years of professional experience in full-cycle accounting or General Ledger accounting.
- Strong practical knowledge of GL processes and month-end/year-end closing.
- Strong knowledge of Polish GAAP and good practical understanding of IFRS.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements under Polish GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Strong experience in balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet account analysis.
- Practical knowledge of VAT and CIT.
- Practical knowledge of deferred tax.
- Experience with JPK and KSeF.
- Strong understanding of accounting for accruals, provisions, depreciation, prepayments, deferrals, and reclassifications.
- Previous experience working with external and/or internal auditors, including preparation of audit documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with Finance leadership and Business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and proactively resolve issues.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines.
- Polish fluency
- English at B2 level or higher.
- Strong knowledge of Polish accounting and tax regulations.
