VANRATH is delighted to be working with a leading UK-owned organisation to recruit a Tax Accountant to join its established Finance team, based in Belfast.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong tax experience to take ownership of a broad tax remit within a sizeable and commercially focused organisation. The role offers exposure across corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, customs, cross-border transactions and group activity, alongside wider financial reporting and business partnering responsibilities.
The Role
Reporting to a senior member of the Finance leadership team, you will take responsibility for a broad range of group tax activities, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting and effective tax governance across the business.
You will work closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, providing technical tax support while also contributing to wider financial reporting, analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role would suit a qualified accountant who is looking to develop their tax expertise within a complex, multi-entity environment and gain genuine commercial exposure.
What You Will Do
- Lead on group tax activities, including corporation tax, VAT, PAYE and customs.
- Manage tax reporting and compliance requirements, including submissions to HMRC and other relevant bodies.
- Support intergroup accounting activity, including M&A, cross-border transactions and transfer pricing documentation.
- Contribute to statutory accounts and wider financial reporting requirements.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis as part of the internal reporting cycle.
- Work collaboratively across Finance and the wider business to maintain strong tax controls and reporting processes.
- Provide commercial tax and financial support to operational and business teams.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax, finance and reporting processes, systems and controls.
- Support wider digital transformation and finance improvement projects.

Requirements
Essential
- Qualified accountant with a recognised professional accounting body, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar tax or finance role.
- Strong technical knowledge across corporation tax, VAT, PAYE and customs.
- Good understanding of relevant tax reliefs and allowances.
- Experience dealing with cross-border trading and the associated tax implications.
- Experience managing tax compliance and reporting requirements.
- Exposure to group reorganisations and corporate simplification activity.
- Strong Excel skills, with experience in financial modelling and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- A collaborative and commercially focused approach.
- Proactive, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience within an Agri, FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
