DP Accountant Costing unit - Finance Business Partner

Location: Newforge Lane
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £24.59 per hour

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist with:

  • Lead financial planning and budgeting processes, including forecasting, in-year monitoring, and providing strategic financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to senior management, delivering clear financial advice, challenging forecasting, and supporting business cases, investment decisions, and resource prioritisation.
  • Establish and maintain close and effective working relationships with colleagues across AFBI and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly monitoring and statutory annual accounts, in line with public sector standards and compliance requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance to promote the safeguarding of public funds and ensure that such funds are discharged with probity, regularity and best value for money.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial systems to support financial management and reporting processes.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current public expenditure planning, monitoring, control and accountability systems.
  • Promote high standards of accountability, integrity and probity and provide professional advice to support decision-making.
  • Lead and develop finance staff while promoting continuous improvement, high-quality financial management, and effective stakeholder engagement across the organisation.
  • Ensure effective management of staff, including absence and performance management.

Essential Criteria

Have successfully passed the final professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the following professional bodies:

  • Chartered Accountants Ireland
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
  • The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
  • The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
  • The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy
  • The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland

AND

Have at least two years' post-qualification experience, gained within the last ten years, in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial planning and budgeting; OR
  • Financial Management / Management Accounting; OR
  • Financial Accounting / Auditing; OR
  • Development / Implementation of Financial Systems; OR
  • Strategic planning and decision support in a finance or regulatory environment.
