CAD Engineer
MOSart Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd.
Job Description
CAD Engineer
MOSart Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. | Hyderabad or Bhubaneswar, India Department: Design Infrastructure Reports to: Co-Founder & CTO Employment Type: Full-time
About MOSart SemiconductorsMOSart Semiconductors is a fabless mixed-signal IC design startup on a mission to put India on the world map of semiconductor leadership. Founded by veterans from Micron and ams-OSRAM with deep roots at IIT Madras, we are building ML1026 โ a single-chip Battery Management IC with an industry-leading inline Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy engine (Tru-EIS) โ for the world's EVs and energy storage systems.
We are a funded, ambitious startup assembling a world-class design team from Bengaluru, and we compete on the same stage as the best semiconductor companies globally. This role is one of our most urgent hires as we scale our design infrastructure to support that ambition.
Role SummaryWe are looking for a CAD Engineer to own and evolve the backbone of our chip design environment โ the tools, compute infrastructure, and automated flows our analog, mixed-signal, and digital design engineers depend on every day. You'll set up and maintain our EDA tool flow, keep our compute environment fast and reliable, and build the scripted automation that lets a growing design team move without friction.
You don't need a semiconductor background to thrive here. What matters far more is strong hands-on systems experience โ administering infrastructure, automating with scripts, and being the person a team can depend on for uptime and reliability. We'll teach you the EDA and chip-design specifics; bring us the infrastructure instincts.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at a company still being built. Your work will directly enable the tapeouts, verification runs, and design iterations behind India's next flagship semiconductor product.
Key Responsibilities- CAD & EDA Tool OwnershipInstall, configure, and maintain EDA tools from vendors such as Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens (Mentor)
- Manage tool licensing (FlexLM/FlexNet or equivalent), license servers, and vendor coordination
- Integrate and maintain PDKs (Process Design Kits) from foundry partners
- Build and maintain automated, scripted design flows (Tcl, Perl, Python, or shell) that design engineers can rely on without friction
- Infrastructure & SystemsAdminister and harden the underlying compute environment (Linux-based servers/workstations, on-prem and/or cloud)
- Manage job scheduling/queuing, storage, networking, and backups for design compute workloads
- Own system security, patching, access management, and disaster recovery
- Scale infrastructure as the design team and compute demands grow
- Design Flow SupportWork closely with design, verification, and layout engineers to troubleshoot tool and environment issues quickly
- Maintain regression and simulation infrastructure so design cycles are never blocked by environment issues
- Document setup, flows, and troubleshooting procedures for the growing team
- AI-Augmented Workflows (Big Plus)Explore and help integrate AI agents into EDA and design automation workflows
- Support experimentation with AI-assisted scripting, flow automation, or design-flow tooling
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Strong, hands-on experience administering systems infrastructure in a professional environment โ Linux, networking, storage, scripting, automation, security (cloud or software-company backgrounds are a great fit)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Tcl, or shell scripting
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and a sense of ownership โ comfortable being the person a team depends on for uptime and reliability
- Fast learner, comfortable picking up new tools and domain-specific systems (EDA tools, PDKs) on the job
- Experience installing, configuring, or supporting EDA/CAD tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens/Mentor, or similar)
- Experience with software license management (FlexLM/FlexNet or equivalent)
- Experience with compute job schedulers (LSF, SGE, or similar) and HPC-style environments
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) for compute-heavy workloads
- Curiosity or hands-on experience integrating AI agents or AI-assisted automation into workflows โ a strong plus, not a requirement
- Prior experience supporting a semiconductor or hardware design team โ nice to have, not required
We are selective โ we're looking for talented, ambitious engineers who want to build something that matters. This is an infrastructure-builder role for someone who takes as much pride in a rock-solid design environment as our engineers take in a clean layout, and who wants their work measured in silicon that ships into real EVs and real battery systems.
Why Join MOSart- Be part of a founding team building India's flagship mixed-signal semiconductor company from the ground up
- Direct, high-visibility ownership of design infrastructure critical to our flagship product (ML1026)
- Work alongside a leadership team with deep industry pedigree (IIT Madras, Micron, ams-OSRAM)
- Competitive compensation for a funded, ambitious startup
- Hyderabad or Bhubaneswar, India (on-site)
