The Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Manufacturing Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our manufacturing operations. This position will be central to establishing efficient, scalable, and repeatable product assembly processes, setting the standard for how our products are built, documented, controlled, and continuously improved.
The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles across the operation, driving improvements in productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance. A key strategic responsibility will be the successful transfer of proven manufacturing processes to our US manufacturing facility, ensuring assembly methods, work instructions, training materials, quality standards, and operational controls are replicated effectively to support a successful production ramp-up.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Create and update detailed manufacturing routings, including process steps, equipment requirements, and resource requirements.
- Ensure that routings align with engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering production and quality teams to optimize routing efficiency and
- minimize costs.
- Conduct time studies to accurately determine process times and resource requirements.
- Use time study data to optimize routings and improve productivity.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of manufacturing processes, including routings, work instructions, and quality plans.
- Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant personnel.
- Analyze and evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Equipment Selection and Installation.
- Research and select appropriate manufacturing equipment, ensuring compatibility with production requirements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot manufacturing problems, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and quality, to achieve project objectives and support overall business goals.
Requirements:
- Completed a level 8 or masters degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience within a manufacturing, configure to order or design to order environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including lean manufacturing, process
- optimization, Flexible manufacturing systems and quality control.
- Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma and knowledge of automation and robotics would be an advantage.
- Ability to travel between HE Irish locations on a regular basis and flexibility to travel to the US as per business requirements.
