About the Opportunity

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Duration: 6 months through June 25, 2027

We are seeking a Software QA Test Technician I to join the Engineering team supporting a growing Machine Vision and Imaging business.

This is a hands-on onsite testing role ideal for someone with a combination of PC technical support, software testing, troubleshooting, and hardware/software integration experience.

You will work closely with engineering teams to test software and prototypes, troubleshoot failures, reproduce and characterize defects, document results, and support high-quality software releases.

What You'll Do

  • Execute software, system, and prototype tests based on established test plans and procedures.
  • Perform operational testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on software applications and systems.
  • Reproduce, debug, and characterize software defects and product failures.
  • Analyze test results and identify actual or potential issues.
  • Document test configurations, pass/fail results, defects, and troubleshooting findings.
  • Assist engineering teams with diagnosis and replication of product failures.
  • Maintain accurate test records and laboratory documentation.
  • Review and validate engineering and technical documentation.
  • Perform testing for software/design changes and upgrades.
  • Participate in Agile QA processes and software release activities.
  • Communicate testing progress, issues, and results to engineering and other stakeholders.
  • Work with new technologies and approaches in a hands-on engineering environment.

What We're Looking For

  • AEC or DEC in Computer Science, Computer Systems, IT, or a related technical field; equivalent technical education/experience will also be considered.
  • Hands-on PC technical or PC testing experience.
  • Experience with software QA/testing and test execution.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, particularly Ubuntu, Red Hat/RHEL, or SUSE.
  • Understanding of PC architecture, hardware/software interaction, and system troubleshooting.
  • Experience debugging and reproducing software or system defects.
  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile/QA practices.
  • Experience with test management or defect tracking tools such as Testray, TestRail, Jira, Zephyr, or similar.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.

Nice to Have

  • Python scripting or programming experience.
  • Hardware/software integration testing.
  • Prototype or engineering laboratory testing.
  • Experience with technical or engineering documentation.
  • Machine vision, imaging, or embedded/device testing experience.
