Overview
As a Hardware Engineer on Helsing’s Physical Products team, you will design robust UAV hardware from concept to flight-ready builds. You will work across aerodynamic, mechanical, propulsion, and electronics subsystems to ensure performance and reliability of Helsing’s UAV platforms, aligning with the mission to empower democratic societies with advanced defence technology. You will prototype rapidly, validate hardware, and collaborate with suppliers to meet program needs.
This role offers exposure to cutting-edge AI-enabled defence tech and a hands-on development environment.

- Own end-to-end UAV hardware design from concept to flight-ready builds
- Work across aerodynamic, structural, propulsion, and electronic subsystems
- Prototype iteratively, balancing performance, weight, power, and manufacturability
- Define and execute hardware validation and flight-readiness testing with documentation
- Evaluate and select components and materials, coordinating with suppliers and partners
- Hands-on experience designing and building UAVs or similar autonomous hardware systems
- Depth in at least one: aerodynamics/flight mechanics, mechanical/structural design, or electronics/avionics
- Strong prototyping track record with fast concept-to-flying iterations
- Proficiency with CAD, FEA, CFD, Altium, or MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience defining and running hardware validation and test campaigns, and clear English communication
