Engineer

Overview

You will join Amey’s Design and Development team in Manchester as a seasoned Highways Engineer. You will design and deliver highway projects, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with clients to meet quality, cost, and programme targets. • Design and deliver highway projects, supervising junior engineers
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation to meet quality, cost, and programme criteria
• Oversee junior staff work and take responsibility for their actions
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings, respond to queries
• Manage a small local single-discipline technical team and deliver workload
• Contribute to bids and the work-winning function
• Work on site, including out-of-hours and visiting arrangements

• Degree/Masters qualification in a relevant discipline
• Experience in highway engineering, especially local roads and S278 layouts
• Commercial and customer-focused approach to meet targets and generate income
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and supervise others
• Knowledge of Manual for Streets, DMRB, national standards and local standards
• Understanding of CDM regulations and their relevance to highway design
• Ability to support briefs for fee quotes and deliver on time, within budget and quality
