Accountant

Overview

As an Accountant at Circle, you will own end-to-end accounting in key areas such as operating costs, payroll, share-based compensation, fixed and intangible assets, and leases. You’ll manage month/quarter closes, analyze financial movements, and ensure quality controls with a focus on data-driven improvement using AI and automation. You’ll support SEC disclosures, ICFR and SOX, and collaborate across Finance and the business to enhance data, processes, and governance.

• Own month-end and quarter-end close activities across operating costs, payroll, share-based compensation, assets, and leases
• Process journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, capitalization, and period-end adjustments
• Analyze balance sheet and P&L movements; provide evidence-based root cause commentary
• Understand business activity and data behind accounting areas; apply GAAP and escalate complex matters
• Prepare supporting schedules, financial reporting, and SEC disclosures; perform ICFR/SOX testing and documentation
• Drive issue resolution with cross-functional teams; improve upstream data and processes
• Support audit, tax, and compliance efforts; maintain high-quality documentation
• Leverage AI and automation to enhance speed, accuracy, and scalability while ensuring governance

• 2+ years of relevant accounting or audit experience
• Professional qualification (ACA, CPA, ACCA) or equivalent
• Strong problem solving, ability to work through ambiguity, and data-driven reasoning
• High ownership, resilience and bias for action
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize under pressure
• Clear, structured communication and cross-functional collaboration
• Hands-on experience with AI, automation or data tools to solve problems
• Understanding of audit, ICFR and SOX; experience with auditors
• Ability to learn quickly and collaborate across time zones
