About the Role

We are looking for a Team Lead – Sr. Backend Developer who is both a strong backend engineer and an effective team leader.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the backend development team, guiding technical decisions, reviewing code, solving complex technical challenges, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and with high quality.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, REST APIs, and microservices, along with the ability to mentor developers, manage tasks, collaborate with other teams, and take ownership of backend architecture and delivery.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of backend developers.
• Assign tasks based on team members' skills, experience, and project priorities.
• Guide developers in solving technical challenges and improving their coding practices.
• Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
• Help team members grow technically through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
• Take ownership of the team's overall technical performance and productivity.

Backend Development & Architecture

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend applications.
• Work hands-on with Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Make appropriate technical decisions related to backend architecture and system design.
• Ensure applications are secure, reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
• Identify and resolve performance, database, and application-level issues.
• Review and improve existing backend architecture and technical processes.

Project & Delivery Ownership

• Understand business and technical requirements and convert them into actionable development tasks.
• Plan, prioritize, and track backend development activities.
• Ensure projects and features are delivered within agreed timelines.
• Identify technical risks early and take appropriate action to resolve them.
• Coordinate with Frontend, QA, DevOps, Product, and other teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Take responsibility for backend deliverables from development through deployment and production support.

Security, Performance & Integration

• Implement secure authentication and authorization using technologies such as JWT, OAuth, and RBAC.
• Optimize database queries, APIs, and overall application performance.
• Work with Redis and caching mechanisms where required.
• Develop and manage third-party API and service integrations.
• Support deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production issue resolution.
• Follow best practices for security, logging, error handling, and application reliability.

Required Skills

• 6–10+ years of experience in backend development.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js and Express.js.
• Excellent experience with MongoDB, database design, queries, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and Microservices Architecture.
• Knowledge of JWT, OAuth, RBAC, and backend security.
• Experience with Redis, Git, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of debugging, performance optimization, and scalable application development.
• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Previous experience managing or leading a backend development team.

Education

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
