Job Description
We are looking for a Java Backend Developer Specialist to join our trading engine team. You will work on the development and maintenance of high-performance distributed systems, handling complex scenarios and critical environments where high performance, resilience, and low latency are fundamental.
What will you do?
- Development and Maintenance: Develop and maintain robust Java applications collaboratively and incrementally with other team members.
- Distributed Systems & High Performance: Design and operate high-availability systems, focusing on resilience, low latency (below milliseconds), and performance optimization in critical scenarios.
- Data Consistency: Handle complex distributed transaction scenarios, ensuring data integrity and consistency across multiple microservices.
- Observability: Develop observability-oriented microservices, applying best practices for monitoring, failure anticipation, and proactive incident management.
- Technical & Collaborative Role: Actively participate in ceremonies (technical refinements, plannings, reviews), contributing directly to architecture decisions and product strategies.
- Write and Maintain Automated Tests: Quality is achieved through automated testing of everything developed; therefore, building and delivering tests is part of the definition of done.
What do we need you to have?
- Language & Messaging: Consolidated experience in Java (JDK 11+) and practical experience in message-based architectures.
- Messaging / Events: Knowledge of ultra-high-performance or distributed messaging (Aeron/Hydra, Apache Kafka, or similar).
- Databases: Solid experience with relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL).
- Communication & Protocols: Mastery of WebSockets, custom protocol design, and familiarity with financial market protocols (such as FIX).
- Binary Serialization: Experience with high-performance binary codecs such as SBE, Protobuf, or FlatBuffers.
- Automation & Testing: Mastery of Gradle for build automation and solid experience with automated testing using Cucumber under the BDD approach.
- Infrastructure & OS: Mastery of Docker for containerization/environment management and ease of working in a Linux environment.
- Knowledge of Observability, Telemetry, and Monitoring:
