Short-Form Content & Scriptwriter (Remote)
EverScale
Job Description
You find the ideas worth filming.
Our founders spend every day in strategy calls, client conversations, and internal discussions. You listen for the moments that are surprising, useful, personal, or worth arguing with — then turn them into short-form content people actually want to watch.
You’ll develop concepts and write scripts for Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. You’ll also adapt ideas into supporting LinkedIn posts, captions, newsletters, and other written content as needed.
Your job is to take raw thinking and turn it into a clear point of view, a compelling story, and a script that sounds natural when spoken aloud.
You understand that a strong video starts long before the camera turns on. The hook, story, structure, pacing, and emotional payoff all matter.
Nothing good stays buried in a transcript. And nothing goes on camera that sounds generic, over-scripted, or like it was written by AI.
Compensation:
- Competitive Monthly Retainer
- Base: CAD $45,000–$55,000 / year, paid as an independent contractor
Who This Is For:
- You’re a writer first, but you think in stories, hooks, and audience attention
- You can hear the interesting moment inside a long conversation
- You’re naturally curious and know how to go one question deeper
- You have strong taste and can tell the difference between good and almost-good
- You’re comfortable working from raw material rather than a perfect brief
- You care about making content feel human, specific, and worth watching
- You’re excited by iteration and don’t get precious about a first draft
Our Core Values:
We hold every decision, and every hire, against these. If it doesn’t fit, it isn’t us.
- Build It, Don’t Deck It — We ship working things. Nobody here gets paid for a document.
- Taste Is a Skill — Knowing good from almost-good is trainable, testable, and non-negotiable here.
- Test, Don’t Guess — Every opinion is a thesis until the numbers come back.
- Human Where It Counts — We automate the process. We never automate the creative.
What We Offer:
- 100% Remote (you just need high speed internet)
- Direct access to the founders. No layers, no middle management
- More raw material than you’ll know what to do with — calls, stories, ideas, and conversations happening every day
- Real ownership of short-form content across multiple founder-led brands
- AI tools and workflows that speed up research, organization, and iteration
- A team of specialists. You write — you’re not expected to manage the calendar, edit the videos, or do five other jobs
- Room to grow as the media team scales
The Media Engine:
EverScale is an operational consulting firm. We build the functions founder-led companies never got around to building — then staff them, document them, and hand them over.
We’re doing that to ourselves right now, with media.
Agencies charge a huge fee per brand for exactly this team, and mark it up. We’re building it in-house instead: a real pipeline from research to concept to script to shoot to edit to publish to performance, and back into research.
Most content writers work from a brief and a guess at the founder’s voice. If you’ve ever wanted to write from inside a company — with access to the actual conversations, decisions, stories, and opinions behind the content — this is that job.
Responsibilities:
- Review founder calls, transcripts, and notes to find stories, insights, and opinions worth publishing
- Develop concepts and hooks for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn video
- Write concise, compelling scripts that sound natural when spoken aloud
- Interview founders and ask the questions that uncover the real story
- Adapt strong ideas into LinkedIn posts, captions, newsletters, and other written content
- Maintain an organized library of stories, hooks, frameworks, and unused angles
- Revise based on founder feedback, creative direction, and performance
- Collaborate with the founder, creative strategist, and editor to strengthen the final piece
The Role:
Your primary job is turning raw founder thinking into camera-ready content.
You’ll own the concept, hook, story structure, script, and revisions. You won’t own overarching brand strategy, publishing, production management, filming, or video editing.
Requirements:
- Exceptional writing ability. Show us your best scripts, social content, editorial work, copywriting, journalism, newsletters, or other relevant work
- Strong short-form instincts. You understand hooks, pacing, structure, retention, and why people keep watching
- Natural spoken-word writing. Your scripts sound conversational rather than written or over-produced
- Platform fluency. You understand how content changes across Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn
- Interviewing ability. You listen closely and know how to get beyond the first answer
- Voice flexibility. You can write in someone else’s voice without making them sound generic
- Comfort with feedback. You revise quickly and don’t get precious about a first draft
- AI fluency. You use AI to research, organize, and move faster, but know when its output is generic, wrong, or simply not good enough
- Native or fluent English
- Bonus: Experience writing for founders, executives, creators, or personal brands
We move fast, the standard is high, and we’re looking for one right person. If that’s you, apply.
