Position Summary:
Marriott has an exciting MTA opportunity for a Platform Engineer on the Data & AI team. This role provides advanced production support for Project Sunrise, the MiNT capability that makes legacy Night Audit Reports available to authorized users. The engineer serves as a senior technical escalation point for complex application, data-processing, report-visibility, and access-related incidents that cannot be resolved by frontline support.
In this role, you will investigate production issues across the Sunrise application flow, including MiNT report visibility, data ingestion and validation, Snowflake data and control tables, security mappings, row-level security, and upstream or downstream integrations. You will use application logs, monitoring alerts, SQL analysis, and operational evidence to identify root causes, restore service, and coordinate permanent corrective actions.
You will partner closely with MiNT L1 support, PMS support teams, Denali and data platform teams, RBAC and SailPoint teams, SRE, application development teams, and service providers. You will also strengthen operational readiness through proactive monitoring, technical documentation, knowledge transfer, problem management, release support, and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in any application support, platform engineering, software engineering, data engineering, or business intelligence, including advanced production troubleshooting
- Proficiency in SQL, data analysis, Apache Airflow, application logs, APIs, web technologies, AWS and other cloud-based data platforms
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, AWS services such as S3, Airflow, Lambda, ServiceNow, and enterprise monitoring or alerting platforms
- Strong understanding of role-based access control, row-level security, and production support concepts
- Experience investigating complex incidents through logs, monitoring alerts, database records, control tables, and end-to-end data-flow analysis
- Ability to perform root cause analysis, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and coordinate resolution across multiple technical teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings, risks, and resolution status to technical and business stakeholders
Preferred:
- Experience supporting BI or reporting platforms such as MiNT, Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or Metric Insights, and working within Agile and ITIL-based operating models
- Relevant technology certifications in Snowflake, AWS, ITIL, data engineering, security, or business intelligence tools
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES:
Technical Leadership:
- Provides deep technical expertise and serves as a senior escalation point for Sunrise production incidents
- Coordinates complex issue resolution across MiNT, PMS, Denali, SRE, RBAC, SailPoint, platform, development, and service provider teams
- Coaches support team members, improves troubleshooting practices, and identifies opportunities to reduce incident recurrence and ticket handoffs
Delivering Technology:
- Owns advanced investigation and resolution of Sunrise incidents escalated to L3, including report visibility, application behavior, data-processing, and access-related issues
- Queries Snowflake data, metadata, audit, and control tables to validate file ingestion, data availability, processing status, property mappings, and report eligibility
- Analyzes application logs, alerts, job status, file attributes, naming standards, and monitoring data to isolate failures and determine business impact
- Investigates cases where Night Audit Reports are available to support users but not visible to end users, including RBAC, RLS, persona, entitlement, and property-scope issues
- Investigates cases where files were delivered upstream but are not visible in MiNT, including nonconforming files, processing controls, quarantined records, data-quality failures, and application defects.
- Performs detailed root cause analysis and documents impact, technical cause, mitigation, corrective action, and preventive action.
- Supports critical and high-priority incidents, participates in incident bridges, and provides clear technical updates through stabilization and closure.
- Monitors application health, data-quality checks, alert trends, and recurring incidents; recommends improvements to observability, resiliency, and support automation
- Supports deployments, production releases, patches, certificate renewals, upgrades, and post-deployment validation for Sunrise components.
- Maintains runbooks, troubleshooting guides, known-error records, escalation paths, knowledge articles, and technical support documentation.
IT Governance:
- Follows all defined IT standards and processes, including IT Governance, Service Management and Governance, Architecture, Information Security, Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management, and provides input for process improvements
- Balances service restoration, data integrity, security, customer impact, and operational risk when determining resolution and escalation paths
- Assesses severity, impact, dependencies, and risk, and escalates issues through the appropriate operational, security, architecture, or leadership channels
- Maintains complete and accurate ServiceNow incident, problem, change, and task records, including evidence, technical findings, actions, ownership, and closure details
Service Provider and Cross-Team Management:
- Validates that service providers and partner teams deliver assigned investigation, remediation, documentation, and operational-readiness activities in accordance with agreed scope and service expectations
- Coordinates short-term priorities and technical dependencies during incidents, releases, problem investigations, and corrective-action delivery
- Monitors service provider outcomes, support quality, responsiveness, documentation, and adherence to operational processes
- Reviews technical estimates, proposed solutions, and remediation plans for completeness, feasibility, supportability, and production risk
- Facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems, minimizes customer impact, and drives accountable follow-through on cross-team action items
