Catering Chef

The Executive Catering Chef is responsible for the overall culinary leadership and execution of Logan Square's Lula Café.  Our catering program focuses mostly on bespoke off site weddings, but we also do private in home tasting menus, bridal showers, birthday parties, corporate drop offs and many other events.  In addition we operate a small private dining room called "loulou by lula."  

The Catering Chef will be in charge of overseeing the planning, ordering, preparation, staffing, and execution of these experiences, as well as wedding tastings for prospective clients. This role ensures that all catering menus and experiences reflect Lula Café’s culinary style, with a strong emphasis for seasonality, fresh ness and scratch cooking.  Our brand, values, and standards are maintained with strong systems for recipe development, production planning, mise en place, BEOs, equipment, food safety, cleanliness, and organization.

The Executive Catering Chef is also in charge of training  and mentoring of the catering staff.  They will build efficient production schedules, manage food and labor costs within established budgets; and provide regular reporting on event profitability and projected costs. The chef works closely and communicates effectively with Events Manager, Executive Chef/Culinary Director, and kitchen management team,

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring flexibility, sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and a high level of culinary and operational standards. The position carries a minimum 50-hour work week, with evenings and weekends required according to the event schedule, and provides the autonomy to manage and structure the chef’s own schedule around the needs of the catering program.
