Senior Technical Writer

Role Overview

As a Senior Technical Writer, you will lead the documentation strategy for complex networking technologies, including enterprise routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and cloud security. Leveraging your 8+ years of expertise, you will act as a bridge between engineering, product management, and end-users to translate highly technical networking architectures into clear, user-friendly documentation.

Required Skills:

• Strong writing skills with the ability to turn complex technical content into clear, accurate, and scannable documentation.
• Comfortable collaborating with product teams and subject matter experts, including asking targeted questions to uncover critical details.
• Experience with structured authoring tools like DITA or Oxygen XML Author.

Key Responsibilities

• Documentation Strategy: Develop and own the information architecture and documentation strategy for core networking hardware and software.
• Content Creation: Author and maintain highly complex technical assets such as Configuration Guides, Installation/Deployment Manuals, API Documentation, Release Notes, and Troubleshooting Guides.
• Hands-On Verification: Validate technical accuracy by interacting directly with CLI interfaces, setting up test beds, and replicating use cases.
• AI Adoption: Implement and leverage AI-powered content development tools to boost productivity while maintaining editorial governance.
• Leadership & Mentoring: Lead documentation projects, mentor junior writers, and act as a subject-matter expert for cross-functional teams.
• Review & Compliance: Conduct peer reviews, enforce corporate style guides, and ensure all content meets strict technical and accessibility standards.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Telecommunications, English, or Technical Communications (Master's or certification is a plus).
• Experience: 12 or more years of professional technical writing experience specifically focused on enterprise networking, telecom, or IT infrastructure.
• Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), routing, switching, enterprise Wi-Fi, and network security.
• Tools Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of authoring tools such as DITA/XML, MadCap Flare, Oxygen XML Editor, and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).

Technical Aptitude: Experience with Git/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Markdown/AsciiDoc, and REST API documentation.
