Warehouse Lead

Location: Dublin 22

Job Purpose

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for supporting the effective day-to-day operation of the warehouse within a fast-paced construction and industrial distribution environment, ensuring that goods are received, stored, picked and dispatched accurately and efficiently.

The role will provide day-to-day guidance and support to the warehouse team, maintain high standards of organisation and stock control, coordinate incoming and outgoing goods, and ensure customer orders are fulfilled within required timescales.

The Warehouse Lead will play a hands-on role in the smooth running of the warehouse and will act as a key point of contact between the warehouse, Sales, Operations and Transport teams. The role will also support the wider business by ensuring products are available, organised and dispatched efficiently to meet customer and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Warehouse & Operations Management

  • Support the daily planning of warehouse activities, including incoming deliveries, outgoing orders, priorities and any outstanding issues requiring attention.
  • Coordinate and prioritise orders for picking and dispatch to ensure customer requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Monitor warehouse activity throughout the day and ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required standard.
  • Provide clear direction and support to warehouse staff throughout the working day.
  • Ensure warehouse staff maintain good timekeeping, including start times, breaks and end-of-day procedures.
  • Support the team in maintaining productivity and appropriate standards around mobile phone use, order picking, checking‑in and general warehouse duties.
  • Assist with resolving day-to-day operational issues and elevate matters requiring management attention.
  • Take a hands‑on approach where required, supporting the team with warehouse activities during busy periods.

Goods In / Goods Out

  • Ensure all incoming products and materials are received accurately, promptly and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies, shortages, damages or errors relating to deliveries.
  • Coordinate the movement of products into and out of the warehouse.
  • Assist with organising transport requirements to ensure goods are delivered and collected efficiently.
  • Ensure outgoing orders are picked, checked, prepared and dispatched accurately.
  • Monitor back orders and provide clear updates on outstanding items and expected availability.
  • Where orders cannot be completed, assist in establishing where outstanding items are located and when they are expected to become available.
  • Ensure relevant teams are kept informed of any delays, shortages or issues affecting customer orders.

Stock Control & Warehouse Organisation

  • Ensure stock is stored correctly, safely and in an organised manner, making effective use of available warehouse space.
  • Ensure pallets, labels and associated stock identification are maintained and managed appropriately.
  • Ensure warehouse paperwork and documentation is accurate, complete and kept in good order.
  • Ensure mixed pallets are dealt with promptly, with goods sorted and put away correctly.
  • Support the rolling stock‑take process and help ensure stock records remain accurate.
  • Identify and report stock shortages, particularly shortages of frequently used day‑to‑day products.
  • Monitor stock levels and highlight potential issues before they impact order fulfilment or operations.
  • Assist with maintaining an organised and efficient warehouse layout.
  • Ensure products are stored in a way that allows for safe, efficient and easy access when required.

Team Support & Leadership

  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance, support and direction to warehouse staff.
  • Coordinate the team to ensure daily warehouse priorities are understood and completed.
  • Monitor team productivity and help ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required standard.
  • Lead by example in terms of timekeeping, organisation, communication, safety and professionalism.
  • Assist with the induction and training of new warehouse team members where required.
  • Support management in identifying and addressing performance, timekeeping and productivity issues.
  • Promote a positive, professional and safety‑conscious working environment.
  • Escalate significant employee or operational issues to the appropriate manager.
  • Encourage teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility across the warehouse.

Communication & Coordination

  • Act as a key point of contact for Sales Representatives regarding stock availability, order progress and outstanding items.
  • Communicate effectively with Sales, Operations, Transport and other relevant teams to ensure smooth coordination of orders and deliveries.
  • Provide updates on delays, shortages, damages, back orders and other operational issues.
  • Escalate issues that may affect customer orders, delivery times or warehouse operations.
  • Assist with resolving queries relating to stock availability and order fulfilment.
  • Participate in and contribute to weekly Operations meetings where required, providing relevant updates, issues and suggestions for improvement.

Health, Safety & Housekeeping

  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and damages are reported promptly and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the warehouse, yard and front‑of‑building areas.
  • Ensure work areas, access routes and storage areas are kept clean, tidy, organised and clear wherever possible.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure warehouse activities are carried out responsibly and efficiently.
  • Report any health, safety, equipment or maintenance concerns promptly to management.
  • Ensure products and materials are handled and stored safely and appropriately.

  • The ability to work independently while also supporting and motivating the wider warehouse team.
  • A practical understanding of working within a warehouse, distribution or construction‑products environment.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or team‑lead role would be advantageous.
  • Experience handling pipeline, construction, industrial or similar products would be an advantage.
