Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to provide technical leadership, structure and strategic direction across engineering activities at their Shannon operation.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will lead manufacturing engineering, process improvement, technical problem-solving and engineering project delivery, while also providing technical support across critical maintenance and facilities requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities across machining and precision engineering operations.
- Drive process optimisation, efficiency and continuous improvement across production.
- Support new product introduction, process transfers, tooling, fixtures and validation activities.
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, procedures and engineering standards.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions relating to process, equipment and product performance.
- Analyse production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support capacity planning and manufacturing capability development.
- Work closely with Production and Quality to reduce waste, improve throughput and enhance OEE.
- Act as the senior technical authority for engineering matters across the facility.
- Lead complex technical investigations and engineering problem-solving.
- Evaluate new technologies and engineering solutions.
- Support customer and supplier engineering requirements, risk assessments and engineering change management.
- Lead and support engineering projects through to implementation.
Maintenance & Facilities
Provide technical support and oversight for critical infrastructure and facility systems, including:
- MV electrical substation infrastructure
- Oxygen generation and distribution
- Compressed air, HVAC and process utilities
- Building and facility engineering projects
- Equipment and utility reliability
- Preventive maintenance and asset management
- Facility upgrades and expansion projects
The role will also involve liaison with external contractors, consultants and service providers.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in precision machining, metal processing or advanced manufacturing.
- Track record of delivering engineering projects and measurable operational improvements.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and structured problem-solving.
- Experience leading technical teams and cross-functional projects.
- Strong engineering analysis and project management skills.
- Maintenance and facilities engineering experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of MV electrical systems, HVAC, compressed air, manufacturing utilities or oxygen generation would be advantageous.
