About the Mother Baby Unit

The Werribee MBU is a 6-bed, 6-cot inpatient facility specialising in perinatal mental health. The unit supports women experiencing moderate to severe perinatal mental health challenges and focuses on strengthening parenting capacity and the mother‑infant relationship. The multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, psychologists, maternal and child health nurses, clinical nurse specialists, postgraduate‑trained nursing staff, a Nurse Unit Manager, and other allied health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented mental health nursing care
• Support mother‑infant bonding and parenting skills development
• Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team
• Contribute to treatment planning, risk assessments, and documentation
• Participate in quality improvement and reflective clinical practice
• Demonstrated commitment to holistic, family‑centred care
• Excellent clinical, organisational, time management, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Availability for shift work, including nights

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

• Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
• Experience in mental health settings (Adult, Perinatal, or Infant Mental Health preferred)
• A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
