Contract Manager Facilities

Location: South County Down

Salary: £50-60k plus package

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Contract Manager to oversee the delivery of energy upgrade and residential retrofit projects. This is a full-time position suited to an experienced construction or retrofit professional with a strong understanding of residential energy upgrades and the ability to manage multiple projects, contractors and stakeholders from initial planning through to successful completion.


The position would suit an experienced Contract Manager, Project Manager or Construction Manager from a Facilities background who understands the practical challenges of coordinating multi-measure residential retrofit projects and is capable of driving projects through from initial planning to final completion and customer handover.


This role will be based out of the office in South Down covering projects across in South Ulster/North Leinster.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing energy upgrade and retrofit projects from initial planning and mobilisation through construction, completion and handover.
  • Planning and coordinating contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist installers to ensure works are delivered in accordance with agreed programmes.
  • Managing multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously, ensuring labour, materials and specialist trades are available when required.
  • Monitoring project progress against agreed programmes and taking corrective action where delays or issues arise.
  • Coordinating and overseeing works involving a broad range of energy-efficiency measures, including:
  • Air-to-water and other heat pump installations
  • Solar PV systems
  • Replacement windows and external doors
  • Attic, Internaland External wall insulation
  • Heating controls and associated mechanical works
  • Ventilation and related upgrade works
  • General building, remedial and retrofit works
  • Carrying out or coordinating site inspections to monitor workmanship, quality and progress.
  • Identifying and resolving technical, programme and site-related issues in a timely and practical manner.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for customers throughout the project and ensuring they are kept informed regarding programmes, access requirements, progress and completion.
  • Liaising with surveyors, designers, engineers, energy professionals, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
  • Maintaining accurate project records, including programmes, progress reports, site documentation, variations, completion information and supporting documentation.
  • Ensuring projects are properly inspected, snagged and completed prior to customer handover.


Skills & Attributes

  • A relevant qualification in construction management, engineering, building services, quantity surveying or a related discipline would be advantageous. However, candidates with substantial practical experience managing residential construction, energy upgrade or retrofit projects will also be considered.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple live projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong practical knowledge of construction and retrofit works.
  • Excellent contractor and subcontractor management skills.
  • The ability to identify problems quickly and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
  • The ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with the wider project and management team.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of programme, cost and quality control.
  • Confidence dealing with customers, contractors, technical professionals and other stakeholders.
  • A full clean driving licence and the ability to travel to project sites across the Republic of Ireland will be required.
