The Swim Teacher is an outgoing, caring individual who loves to work with children, youth, adults and families. A dynamic and forward-thinking individual who works closely with their peers, following Seal Swimming's curriculum and embodying the mission, vision and values of the company. Swim Teachers are directly responsible for the delivery of Seal Swimming's programs in adherence to the company's Core Values and report to the Operations Manager.

Teaching Certification

Swim Teacher Pro or recognized equivalent

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet, acknowledge, engage and interact with clients as appropriate, representing Seal Swimming with positivity and enthusiasm.
  • Initiate, develop and maintain positive relationships with clients at all times.
  • Respond to client questions regarding Seal Swimming's programs, policies and procedures; deliver feedback to the Shift Lead.
  • Apply teaching strategies designed to encourage students to excel, set goals and strive to reach their full potential.
  • Deliver Seal Swimming's classes and curriculum in a professional, punctual and ethical manner.
  • Create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all students, providing safety-focused instruction aligned with Seal Swimming's Core Values.
  • Provide technical expertise on basic swimming skills, stroke improvement, swim starts, turns and finishes.
  • Maintain familiarity with the latest tools, techniques and advances in swimming through continuing education and internal staff training.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety of swimmers during supervised activities; maintain a safe, clean and organized pool area.
  • Diligently prevent emergencies from occurring and respond to situations as necessary; report accidents and injuries to the Shift Lead promptly.
  • Participate in regular safety training and internal safety audits.
  • Prepare and adapt lesson plans and work schemes for assigned classes.
  • Recognize and record swimmer progressions, complete skills assessments and progress reports for all students.
  • Assist the Shift Lead in attendance tracking on each shift and record swimmer notes for substitute teachers.
