PLEASE READ THE FULL JOB DESCRIPTION BEFORE APPLYING

Location: Remote
Working Pattern: Fractional โ€“ approximately 6โ€“8 hours per week
Environment: Early-Stage FinTech / People Operations

About the Opportunity

Our client is an early-stage FinTech currently building out its team, leadership capability and internal infrastructure.

As part of this development, the company is looking for a Fractional HR Officer to provide practical People Operations support under the direction of an experienced senior People leader.

This opportunity is particularly suited to an early-career HR professional who already has some practical HR experience but is looking to broaden their exposure, develop their capability and take on increasing responsibility.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of People activity within an early-stage organisation, including recruitment, onboarding, People administration, documentation, employee/consultant records and the development of People processes.

This is not an opportunity for somebody seeking purely observational HR experience. You will be expected to contribute practically, take responsibility for agreed tasks and handle sensitive information appropriately.

In return, there is significant opportunity to learn, develop and gain exposure to the practical development of a People function from an early stage.

Further details regarding the engagement and participation structure will be discussed directly with candidates progressing through the process.

Application โ€“ Mandatory Qualifying Questions

Please submit your CV together with a cover letter. Within your cover letter, you must answer each of the mandatory qualifying questions below.

  1. What practical HR or People Operations experience do you currently have? Please describe your responsibilities rather than simply providing your job title.
  2. What CIPD qualification have you completed or are you currently studying? Please state whether this is CIPD Level 3 or Level 5, together with your expected completion date if you are still studying.
  3. What experience do you have supporting employee, worker or contractor onboarding and offboarding?
  4. What experience do you have maintaining confidential People records, HR documentation or personnel files?
  5. What recruitment administration or coordination experience do you have?
  6. Please provide an example of an HR/People process that you have personally administered from beginning to end.
  7. This role involves handling confidential employee, candidate and business information. Please describe your experience handling sensitive information and how you ensure confidentiality and accuracy.
  8. What are you hoping to learn or develop through an opportunity like this?
  9. This opportunity requires approximately 6โ€“8 hours per week. Can you consistently commit to this level of involvement alongside your other professional or study commitments?

These questions are mandatory and form part of our initial assessment process. Applications that do not provide a clear answer to every mandatory qualifying question will be automatically disqualified and will not be considered further in the recruitment process.

What You'll Be Doing

Working under the direction of senior People leadership, you will provide practical support across the developing People function.

Your responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Supporting recruitment administration and coordination
  • Maintaining candidate and recruitment trackers
  • Coordinating interviews and recruitment documentation
  • Supporting onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Maintaining accurate People records
  • Organising employee and consultant documentation
  • Monitoring outstanding documentation and following up where required
  • Supporting contract and People-document administration
  • Maintaining appropriate People trackers and audit trails
  • Drafting routine People correspondence
  • Supporting the organisation and maintenance of People policies and processes
  • Helping maintain accurate records relating to confidentiality and other engagement documentation
  • Supporting document control and appropriate record keeping
  • Undertaking People research where required
  • Providing general People Operations support
  • Taking increasing ownership of agreed processes as your capability develops

What We're Looking For

This is a developmental opportunity, but some existing HR knowledge and practical experience is required.

You should have:

  • Previous practical HR / People Operations experience
  • A CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification, completed or currently being studied
  • Understanding of core employment and HR processes
  • Strong administration and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence working with confidential information
  • Good written communication
  • Ability to follow processes and instructions accurately
  • Willingness to ask questions when something is unclear
  • Ability to manage agreed tasks independently
  • Genuine interest in developing a career within HR / People
  • Comfort working within an early-stage environment where processes are still being developed

Experience within technology, FinTech, financial services, startups or another regulated environment would be useful but is not essential.

We are more interested in finding someone with the right HR foundations, judgement, reliability and desire to develop.

Why This Opportunity?

Unlike an HR role within a large established organisation where responsibilities may be limited to one narrow area, this opportunity offers exposure to the development of a People function from an early stage.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work directly with experienced senior People leadership
  • Develop practical People Operations experience
  • Gain exposure across recruitment and the employee/consultant lifecycle
  • Learn how People infrastructure is created and scaled
  • Develop experience within an early-stage FinTech environment
  • Take on increasing responsibility as your capability develops

For the right person, this should provide considerably broader exposure than a narrowly defined junior HR position within a large organisation.

Engagement Structure

This is a flexible, fractional engagement of approximately 6โ€“8 hours per week within an early-stage FinTech venture.

It is particularly suited to someone who wants to develop their HR career while participating in the development of a growing organisation alongside other compatible professional or study commitments.

The engagement is structured around participation in the longer-term development and growth of the business rather than a conventional employment package at this stage.

Full details of the participation structure will be discussed with candidates progressing through the process.
