Job DescriptionInfrastructure & Cloud Support Engineer Department: Information Technology Location: Dublin (Hybrid) Reports to: Head of IT Operations, Infrastructure & Security Contract Type: Daily Rate Contractor (circa 6 months) Our client is a leading professional services organisation based in Dublin, operating a large and complex enterprise IT environment with a strong focus on technology adoption and digital transformation. IT Operations plays a central role in connecting digital capabilities with business objectives and providing a stable, secure and scalable technology environment. About the Role: Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Support Engineer to join its growing IT Operations team.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining, supporting and enhancing core technology platforms. This includes on-premises infrastructure, cloud services, networks, storage, virtualisation and core compute environments. A key element of the role will be supporting the organisations telecommunications environment while contributing to a strategic roadmap to modernise communications services.

This includes maintaining and optimising the existing telephony platform, assisting with the migration to cloud-based telephony solutions, and supporting the gradual decommissioning of legacy telephony infrastructure as part of a broader cloud-first strategy. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across multidisciplinary IT teams, including cloud, security, service desk and applications, to deliver stable, secure and scalable infrastructure services. The role also involves direct interaction with managed service providers to support smooth business operations and ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: Infrastructure / Microsoft 365 Management & Operations Maintain, configure and support infrastructure and cloud services, including: Microsoft 365 Teams, Exchange Online and OneDrive On-premises servers, storage, virtualisation platforms and core networking Administer Entra ID, Conditional Access policies, MFA and device compliance. Monitor system performance, service health, capacity and availability, implementing improvements to ensure reliability and resilience. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and act as an escalation point for Tier 1 teams.

Troubleshoot hardware issues and coordinate repairs or replacements where required. Perform regular patching, updates and configuration changes in line with change management processes. Telephony & Unified Communications Support and administer Unified Communications platforms, including on-premises and cloud-based voice, messaging, conferencing and collaboration services.

Manage and support Microsoft Teams Phone, Direct Routing, Operator Connect and other UCaaS services as applicable. Ensure the availability, performance and security of Unified Communications platforms across office and remote-working environments. Contribute to the telephony modernisation programme, including migration from on-premises platforms to cloud-based telephony solutions.

Assist with the phased decommissioning of legacy telephony infrastructure while ensuring minimal business disruption. WAN Infrastructure Support Wide Area Network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity between offices, data centres, cloud platforms and third-party services. Assist with WAN modernisation initiatives, including cloud connectivity, SD-WAN optimisation and enhanced remote-access solutions.

Support network resilience, redundancy and disaster-recovery capabilities. Ensure network infrastructure aligns with cybersecurity standards and business-continuity requirements. Maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards and operational procedures.

Incident, Problem & Change Management Manage and resolve incidents within defined SLAs, ensuring high-quality updates and communication. Follow ITIL-driven processes for change, problem and service-performance management. Participate in root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement activities.

Security & Compliance Implement and maintain security controls across infrastructure components in partnership with the Security Operations team. Remediate vulnerabilities, apply patches and support Zero Trust principles where applicable. Ensure compliance with organisational, regulatory and security standards.

Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement Support the delivery of infrastructure projects, upgrades and migrations. Contribute to infrastructure modernisation initiatives, including cloud adoption and migration. Identify opportunities for automation, optimisation and simplification.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, support guidelines and runbooks. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. 7+ years experience in IT infrastructure engineering or a related technical operations role. Proven experience administering and supporting Unified Communications environments.

Demonstrable experience migrating enterprise voice services from on-premises platforms to cloud-based telephony solutions. ITIL Foundation or similar service-management awareness. Experience with device analytics or monitoring tools.

Highly Desirable Certifications Relevant Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or CLCOR. MS-720/721 Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer. MS-700 Managing Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft 365 certifications. CISSP or similar security certification would be advantageous. Essential Technical Skills Strong Microsoft 365 expertise, including Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Intune and Entra ID.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP. Strong experience with Unified Communications, including CUCM, Unity Connection, voice gateways and SIP services. Strong WAN/LAN experience, including internet circuits, SD-WAN, firewalls, routing, switching and Wi-Fi.

Demonstrable experience delivering telephony transformation, migration or cloud-adoption programmes. Strong knowledge of VMware, storage systems and backup technologies. Knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem and Change Management.
