Job Title: Algorithm Engineer
Department: R&D Robotics
Location: Vapi, Gujarat.
Reports To: R&D Head
Experience: 2–5 Years
Job Purpose:
To design, develop, implement, integrate, verify, and optimize robotic algorithms, motion-control systems, kinematics, calibration, and safety algorithms for next-generation surgical robotic systems.
The role will focus on developing highly accurate, stable, responsive, and repeatable robotic motion for surgical instruments and robotic manipulators. The position will involve close collaboration with clinical, mechanical, electrical, embedded software, systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and verification & validation teams to translate clinical and system requirements into robust algorithmic solutions.
The engineer will work across the complete development lifecycle, from mechanism analysis, mathematical modeling, algorithm development, prototype integration, control tuning, calibration, and experimentation through verification, manufacturing testing, and product release.
Skills and Competencies:
Robotics & Controls
• Strong understanding of robotics and robotic control systems.
• Strong knowledge of classical and modern servo-control systems.
• Strong understanding of forward and inverse kinematics.
• Knowledge of serial-arm and multi-DOF robotic systems.
• Knowledge of trajectory generation and motion planning.
• Understanding of Jacobians, singularities, workspace, and joint constraints.
• Knowledge of robot and instrument calibration.
• Understanding of system identification and parameter estimation.
Mathematical & Analytical Skills

• Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Experience with Git/version control.
• Knowledge of Linux and CMake is preferred.
• Knowledge of Eigen, OpenCV, PCL, CUDA, or ROS/ROS2 will be an added advantage.
Mechanical & System Understanding
• Good understanding of mechanical systems and mechanisms.
• Understanding of actuators, motors, encoders, sensors, gears, cable/tendon mechanisms, and transmissions.
• Understanding of mechanical tolerances, backlash, friction, compliance, and hysteresis.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and CAD data.
• Knowledge of electrical and embedded systems is preferred.
Surgical Robotics & Navigation
• Understanding of surgical robotic systems and minimally invasive surgery is preferred.
• Experience with surgical instrument tracking and robotic navigation is an advantage.
• Experience with optical/IR tracking systems is an advantage.
• Experience with 6-DOF tracking, pose estimation, PnP, registration, and calibration is an advantage.
Medical Device Development
• Understanding of medical-device product development processes.
• Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, ISO 13485, design controls, and V&V processes is preferred.
• Understanding of safety-critical software and algorithm development.
