The Role

  • To work as part of the clinical pharmacy team in identifying discrepancies in medication histories and other pharmaceutical issues.
  • To contribute to the pharmaceutical care of patients, and assist the clinical pharmacist in the relevant speciality. In doing this the post holder will comply with relevant standards, guidelines and procedures, health and safety at work and COSHH regulations.
  • To provide a multi‑professional approach to pharmacy and prescribing policy issues and ensure that patients derive maximum benefit and minimum harm from their medicines and ensure smooth transition between primary and secondary care boundaries.

In This Key Role, You Will

  • The post holder will assess, manage and provide pharmaceutical care to individual patients referring to and liaising closely with a clinical pharmacist as appropriate.
  • The post holder contributes to the analysis of the ward based technical service to ensure delivery of a safe and efficient service with economic use of resources whilst adhering to local and departmental policies and procedures, current pharmaceutical standards and national legislation.
  • Labelling and dispensing of inpatient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions
  • To take responsibility for relevant stock management systems and ensure procedures are in place to minimise stock holding and wastage and investigate all stock discrepancies.

What You'll Bring

  • National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • SVQ Level III
  • Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Dispensary checking qualification
