Job Description

Hardware Engineer

SKEYEBOTS | Bangalore, India | Full-Time | Hybrid

About SKEYEBOTS

SKEYEBOTS is an AI-driven autonomous systems company developing intelligent hardware and software for unmanned platforms operating across aerial, ground, and maritime environments. We build for demanding, real-world conditions where reliability, performance, and resilience are non-negotiable.

With engineering operations across India, we are a well-funded, rapidly scaling organisation with a strong institutional foundation and an ambitious roadmap ahead.

We are not looking for people who want to maintain. We are looking for engineers who want to build โ€” and grow with a company doing it at scale.

The Role

This is a hands-on hardware engineering role covering the full electronics and firmware lifecycle โ€” from PCB design through board bring-up, drone assembly, sensor integration, and field validation. You will work closely with our senior hardware engineer and hardware architect, contributing to the electronics that support multiple autonomous platform types, including systems that support and interface with our platforms on the ground.

If you have strong electronics fundamentals, working firmware capability, and want your work deployed into real systems from day one, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

Electronics Design & PCB Development

  • Support and contribute to PCB design: component selection, schematic entry, multilayer layout, and routing
  • Work on circuit design and analysis โ€” power supplies, filter circuits, oscillator circuits, and protection circuits
  • Apply EMI/EMC best practices and support signal integrity checks during design
  • Contribute to DFM-compliant layouts ready for manufacturing handoff

Firmware Development

  • Develop firmware in Embedded C for microcontroller and microprocessor-based subsystems
  • Support RTOS-based firmware development (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or equivalent) for real-time embedded applications
  • Work with peripheral drivers, communication protocol stacks (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN), and sensor integration firmware
  • Support firmware development for auxiliary ground-support systems as needed

Board Bring-Up, Testing & Validation

  • Support board bring-up and electrical debugging on new designs
  • Conduct hardware-firmware co-debugging during bring-up and integration
  • Perform functional, environmental, and reliability validation on hardware and full-system builds
  • Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related instruments for debugging and validation
  • Document test results, failure analysis, and validation reports

Drone Assembly, Integration & Field Testing

  • Assemble and integrate drone platforms โ€” sensors, electronics, and subsystems
  • Support system-level integration testing across aerial and ground platforms
  • Participate in field testing and flight operations (DGCA Remote Pilot Certificate sponsored if not already held)
  • Identify and resolve hardware and firmware-level issues during field deployment

What We're Looking For

Required

  • B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • 2+ years of hands-on professional experience in electronics hardware and firmware development
  • Working knowledge of PCB design fundamentals โ€” schematic entry, layout, and routing on multilayer boards
  • Solid grounding in analog and digital circuit design and analysis
  • Working proficiency in PCB design tools: KiCad or Altium Designer
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC principles and DFM basics
  • Hands-on board bring-up and hardware debugging experience
  • Embedded C programming with exposure to RTOS concepts
  • Familiarity with embedded communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Prior experience with autonomous systems, UAVs, robotics, or unmanned vehicles
  • Experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar RTOS platforms
  • Experience designing for IP-rated or rugged enclosures
  • Exposure to 3D modelling (SolidWorks or equivalent) and 3D printing for prototyping
  • Version control with Git
  • DGCA Remote Pilot Training (RPT) certification (a plus, not a requirement)

What You'll Get

  • Direct mentorship from a senior hardware engineer and hardware architects with deep industry experience
  • Hands-on exposure across electronics, firmware, drone assembly, and field integration in a single role
  • Employee Stock Options (ESOPs) โ€” genuine equity upside as the company scales
  • A fast track to greater ownership as you grow into the role
  • The opportunity to see your work deployed into real, operational autonomous systems

Location

Bangalore, Karnataka โ€” hybrid work culture. Travel to Kochi as required.
